Measuring children’s feet

So 4 year old DS is still wearing the shoes I bought last autumn and they’re getting a bit tight. So normally I would be trotting off to get his feet measured and buy some canvas or sandals for the summer. How do I do that this year? Buy one of those foot measures myself, just guess at sizing? What are others doing?

You can print one off from the start rite website

You can use a tape measure
There are also ones you can print out on line

I think a few kids won’t have shoes when school opens!!

We’ve just had the same issue, I printed off the Startrite one mentioned above. Though tbh I found it a bit difficult and we ended up just ordering a size up from his current shoes and hoping that they fit!

I bought a shoe gauge from Clarks years ago when mine started primary I think. The adult one seems to cover most of childhood and teens.
You plug the measurements into their website, it then tells you the size. Of course you have to check the fit of whatever you order when it arrives. And shops shoe sizing differs slightly, the same as clothing.

Thanks all. I didn’t know about the printable ones. That sounds the way forward
