Half a stone, bloody hell

That's how much I've put on since this started.

I lost four stone last year and am training for a half marathon. But for some reason I can't stop eating. Crap crap and more crap, sugar and fat and cake and chocolate. To lose the weight I'd nailed my diet down and was eating really well, but now I've fallen off the wagon big time.

I am still working, so my routine is undisrupted, so can anyone give me some ideas on how to stop craving massive amounts of carbs and sugar?

Oh gosh me too! It's not doing my 10000 steps a day. And drinking every night 😞

I generally work the late shift, so by the time I get home much cooking or food prep is out of the window, so I crave quick and easy filling stuff. But I love porridge...

Scrambled eggs done in microwave instead?

I hear you. I’m used to cycling to work so now that i’m working from home my activity levels have plummeted, even with a few runs a week. I’m not eating masses more (I’m quite religious about MFP), I’m just not using it Confused

I have my big meal in the evening. Because of the way timings fall, I only get two meals a day, so I have breakfast at around lunchtime (which is after my run) and then a 'meal' in the evening. If I'm organised enough I can get stuff in the slow cooker, otherwise it's something very quick.

And for me it's Co Op 85% dark chocolate...

Don't worry over Easter and then next time you go shopping don't buy the crap.

It can be hard but if you don't buy it you can't eat it.

I've gained half a stone too! Exactly what I had lost after returning to the gym in February after having ds.
It's probably not healthy, but I make a cup of tea everytime I wander into the kitchen. It genuinely stops me eating, but I'm now drinking upwards of 10 cups a day, so have switched to decaf tea bags and sweetener..

I've gained a few pounds but I am running a lot and also doing a hiit workout most days, which I think is just about keeping me in check. Combination of Easter, stress, kids and Dh at home, and a touch of 'sod it' mentality I think. And wine.

However, I'm not happy to just keep gaining so from Monday it's back to the low carbs and sugar free which I know will really help to keep my weight down.

Zaphodsotherhead · 10/04/2020 21:14

That's partly the trouble Sunshinecake - because I work in a supermarket, shopping is too easy. I don't even have to 'go' shopping because I'm surrounded by it! And there's always someone out the back saying 'ooh, we've got four of these (always something luscious and delicious) and I'm reducing them, anyone want one?' over the headset.

Time to find my inner willpower, I think. I did so well up until lockdown...

I posted before I saw you worked in a supermarket. It is really hard but you did it before and you can do it again. If you weigh in three months and you're a stone heavier you won't even remember what you ate and wanted so much. The weight gain lasts longer than the pleasure from a cake. You can do it.

Sorry, bizarrely posted twice!

Zaphodsotherhead · 11/04/2020 08:42

That's fine managedmis - I like scrambled egg!

I've managed to gain some control since I started this thread and feel better for it. I tread a fine line between starving myself and overeating, so I just need to find my 'maintenance' appetite again.

Customers keep bringing us home baked cakes and the back kitchen is full of biscuits and chocolates that people have bought us, and I am usually hungry at breaktime. Going to start taking an apple...

I was trying to lose 2 stone from the beginning of the year - am 17lb down and have maintained in lockdown so far but the loss has stopped.

I've gone to 16:8 to see if that that helps- eating nothing until noon, which is surprisingly doable unless I've run the previous evening.

I'm clocking up 10-15k steps a day by doing an hour's rural walk and just pottering round the house.

Baking is my nemesis. I'm trying to limit it.

feesh · 11/04/2020 09:46

I gave up carbs as soon as we went into lockdown. I know it works for me as it stops me from feeling hungry (I can easily skip meals and I definitely don’t feel like snacking). I can even watch the kids eat all their Easter chocolate tomorrow and not even feel like eating any.

I have low carbed before with mixed success - the times it doesn’t work are when real life gets in the way and throws me off track eg parties, brunches, special occasions.

But this time, I’ve decided that if I can’t shift this last stone in lockdown then I will NEVER lose it, because this is a golden opportunity to have total control over my diet without external temptations or interferences.

I’m in a country which has invoked total lockdown and we aren’t even allowed outside to exercise, but I’m still losing weight. 3kg so far.
