It's a temporary situation though (and I say that as a teacher). We'll add in tons of booster groups on our return and those children will be first on the list.
There is nothing that can be done at the moment. It's an international disaster.
We are doing everything we can to provide work that can be done with parents and work that can be done independently if parents can't help. We're sending on line messages to children and we're phoning them regularly. We're trying hard. It's a horrible situation though.

Ye I caught the end of it.

The thing is these aren't new children these are children professionals know about and that is why even in a pandemic they are worried enough to want them in school, Add to that the children they don't know about and we see there was already an epidemic going on in this country but for some reason very few seem to care or are interested enough to even want to talk about it never mind do anything as a society.

Lockdown has amplified the situation so it's been highlighted slightly but even the repotting of it was shown late at night shows nothing is going to change.

It's awful but it's not new and as far as I have seen we are never going to do enough so it won't change. I will still be saying this when I am 80!

do you know what is worse when the schools closed there was loads of vitriolic judgmental threads on here about it being unfair that certain in their opinion undeserving children were still going to school. Comments about lazy parents and not deserving etc There was hardly any posts that showed even the tiniest bit if understanding that it wasn't about the adult it was because a child needed somwhere safe to go and access to food everyday

And there are many threads on here where are parents complaining about schools asking them to keep in contact regularly with the school. They really don’t realise how important schools are for looking out for vulnerable children. If schools don’t reopen until September that is nearly 6 months that some children could be slipping through the net.
