Can anyone help me save my plant?

My plant was fine for a while until I think I over watered it. Now it's floppy and well, looks crap! Have I ruined it forever?

I read about letting it completely dry out then drenching it in water but it still looks like it's given up the will to live.

Can anyone help me save my plant?

I'd let the compost dry and then water normally. I'd cut off all the discoloured and droopy parts, there are some younger upright shoots which may be ok.

(I'd also wait for someone else's advice before doing anything!)

Is the compost sodden? Iwonder if it's worth repotting it?

Holdingmybreath · 08/04/2020 14:21

If it's an aloe Vera then tip it out of its pot, there looks enough there to split.Repot split plants after removing leaves past all hope.Water, put it somewhere like the kitchen window sill so that you can mutter encouraging words, pray and DO NOT water until you can stick your finger into the compost and it is dry down to the second joint.Even a small bit of aloe Vera with a bit of root will grow.
Giig luck.Otherwise pm when the lockdowns over and I'll stick some in the post.

Thanks so much! Will crack on with that @Holdingmybreath. Maybe there's hope for my little plant yet. It's not sodden, but it's still a little moist.

Take it out of the white outer pot, and stand the inner pot on some folded kitchen paper or a teatowel. See how much water you can get out of the soil. It may alteady be too late. It is an aloe vera and is a succulent. They hate being too wet, and the roots will rot if kept damp.

Let it dry out completely before watering it again, and never let it sit in water, it would be best to stand it on the draining board and water from the top, let all the excess water drain away, then put back in the white pot. I water mine about twice a year, if that.

Thanks @yamadori.

Always hope with aloe Vera and it really does work if you burn yourself, another reason in our house to have it in the kitchen.
Once you've got it going you'll wonder what to do with all the plants you end up with.
We had our cute little plant given as a party parting gift to my teen.
We have lots hencey happiness to pass more on,some would be in the post now we're it not for covid.

Party not parting.

I think I over-watered my aloe vera plant recently - it looked like this, then I tried to re-pot it but it didn't survive 😢.

Holdingmybreath · 09/04/2020 14:42

Did you talk to it though?
