S Korea : "Popular discos for the elderly will also be suspended."

Saw this phrase tucked into the bottom of an article about CV-19 infection in Korea. Anyone ever been to one of these elderly people's discos? What are they like? Is it all drugs and raving, or more genteel 'Saturday Njght Fever' stylie jiggs? What would I wear ? Do they have a minimum age requirement? What's the dress code?

I know we are not allowed out at the moment but I rather like the idea of discos for older people and rather like the idea of a club where I could dance without the judging eyes of a bunch of kids. I miss my clubbing days Grin

Once the world is open for business who's coming with?

I remember seeing something about this before, here's a link to a bbc report.

Minimum age? 65
What to wear? Lots of white cotton, and flashing bunny ears by the looks of it

I want this!

Oh I love this!! What would the soundtrack be, gentle trance?

I just had a look on Amazon for bunny ears and glowsticks for my mother :)

Over 65s get all the fun

That looks ace. My mum and auntie turn 65 and 70 next year (although you wouldn't tell by looking at them) and are looking for a special holiday to celebrate. They would love this!

Maybe there could be two categories of disco? Over 40s and over 60s?

I would love to go clubbing; I'm 43 and live in a Home Counties market town. There's not much happening round here club-wise Grin. I reckon there's money in that though for parents/grandparents to dance, after a few bevvies!

I love this. Thanks for sharing!

DH used to work on the tea dance circuit. Loads of groping and snogginc in the dance floor apparently.

I thought the guy in the video made a good point. Many of the dance activities for older people are structured, waltzes and the like. If you're totally uncoordinated or are shy about having a dance partner or just don't like that kind of music you miss out on a great opportunity. This is a great alternative, and I like pps idea of an over 40s disco, I'd definitely be up for that!

do you think we could do a Zoom elderly disco? Grin

Ok, brilliant, we can stick our parents in the 65+ and sneak off to have a party next door.

Not au fait with zoom!

Sounds perfect.
