Tinned fruit and veg hits and misses

Apologies for such a boring thread.

I'm writing a shopping list for the week and whereas I normally would buy a lot of fresh fruit and veg, and do one or two top-up shops for fresh salad etc. Obviously, that's not an option right now, so I'm working out how to make a week's shopping last, by buying a mix of fresh and frozen stuff.

Could tins help? I usually have chickpeas, tomatoes and sweetcorn in the cupboard, but what about things like mushrooms? are they OK in tins for use in a casserole or just too horrible?

So - what would you recommend, and what should I definitely avoid?

Frozen spinach great for throwing a cube or two into curry, pasta sauce etc.
Tinned fruit is great value. We have a lot of smoothies and they are very cost effective. Tinned pears also great in a pear and ginger crumble. 😋
Never tried tinned veg with the exception of artichokes, which I love in a green lentil salad.

I use tinned mushrooms in Bolognese. Can't really notice the difference in that.

The trick to preserving fresh veg is to make sure it's not sweating in a plastic bag and to check it regularly. With care, most can last a while.

We use tinned fruit for smoothies, today we had a tin of peaches, tin of raspberries and a normal banana, blitzed with the juice. Yum.

You cab get all sorts of frozen beans eg edamame/soy.

Celery is useful in everything.

You must have onions.

I like frozen spinach in lots of stuff, plus tinned pears.

I think green beans -fresh or frozen-are lovely, and broccoli and asparagus keep well too.

Ooh yes to frozen edamame, in shells or out.
