Oh crikey; dd2 is getting chattier

And chattier Grin

Right now she's talking herself through building something or other on Minecraft Hmm.

She fills every waking second with random conversation or singing along to musicals.

Anyone else have a super chatty child?

6yo DD chats constantly as well, she started talking in full sentences at just before 2 and hasn't stopped since. She's also started doing a baby voice and it drives me NUTS. I understood it a couple of years ago when DS was born, but now it's just the most irritating sound! She doesn't do it all the time, but enough to make me crazy. If I say "talk to me properly or I won't listen" once a day...

DS(20mo) doesn't say much other than "Mama", "Dada", "Nan", "brum" (car) and "more". I keep hoping he'll start talking soon, and then remember what it's actually like... Then again, he's perma-frustrated because we don't know what he wants, so that's not great either!

Blessed relief while DD's on zoom with her teacher so I only have DS in the room, and he's eating so talking less. Not totally silent, but at this point I'll take it!

TiggeryBear · 07/04/2020 13:35

@BendingSpoons my DD (also aged 4) is exactly like this too. Her imaginary children have the same name as her & her brother & their cousin 🙄 drives me doolally 🤪

catwithnohat · 07/04/2020 14:27

paper husband whose use of zoom consists of yelling into the computer so loud I'm pretty sure his colleagues 10 miles away can hear him without the need for bloody video conferencing.

Having had this non stop this morning I empathisize Smile

amusedbush · 07/04/2020 15:31

My mum said ever since I uttered my first word, I talked all day from the second I opened my eyes in the morning.

I'm still a chatter. DH has to stifle a groan when I'm telling a story because I can't stop myself havering, going off on tangents and giving unnecessary backstory that nobody asked for Blush

EnthusiasmIsDisturbed · 07/04/2020 16:38

It does get better

Ds is less chatty now he is 12. I get silent periods and grunts but then he will switch and chat non stop usually about some nonsense that is absolutely not he truth from a YouTube video

EnthusiasmIsDisturbed · 07/04/2020 16:38

Absolutely the truth from YouTube...

notangelinajolie · 07/04/2020 16:43

My youngest was like this. There was never a moment she would make no noise. And loud too, in a group of friends you could always hear her over everyone else. The chatter was constant - she is an adult now and she is still the same. Sorry, just warning you OP she may never grow out of it. Wine helped me a lot.

EthelMayFergus · 07/04/2020 18:05

One of mine hasn't stopped talking for 12 years, as a toddler she used to follow me around explaining her every thought. Then once she started school I got a blow by blow account of her day. Even now (as a teenager) if I see her on the phone I can't enjoy the reprieve because the second she puts the phone down she will find me to repeat every word. She's so lovely though, I don't mind unless I'm trying to read.

BendingSpoons · 07/04/2020 18:45

@TiggeryBear you must have some confusing conversations! DD was talking about Daniel Waniel (her brother is Daniel) and I had to explain to my mum that she wasn't talking about her real brother. Another friend is Whoever, as in you sit next to Whoever 😂.

Craftycorvid · 07/04/2020 19:01

My mum does this - she’s 85 Grin

Haworthia · 07/04/2020 19:05

My DD witters on all day and doesn’t even notice that no one is listening. I’m not sure she even cares.

Nearly lost it today though, when all I wanted to do was eat lunch and she wanted to narrate her lunch at me.

Witchend · 07/04/2020 20:05

We called it the "wet weather Wimbledon commentator" stage.
the stage where they can say nothing for hours on end about nothing happening.

RandomMess · 07/04/2020 20:15

Eldest got quieter when she moved out age 18, youngest is 14 and much the same. Middle two are far better at keeping passing thoughts in their heads rather than sharing them!

Tulipstulips · 07/04/2020 20:19

DS talked late, and people said “Oh he’ll be chattering away soon enough and you’ll wish he’d shut up”. And I thought “If only he’d talk! I’ll never mind if he talks too much, I’ll love every word.”

Now he won’t shut up and my ears hurt sometimes.
