Keep smelling burning when nothing is

... it’s driving me nuts! Randomly, engrossed in something, I’ll suddenly smell burning. The other day I was teaching my son how to fold clothes neatly and it was strong enough to get me rushing out the room to find the fire. Or I’ll be dozing off and I’ll get up with a start because I smell burning. Not in any particular place, over the last 3-4 weeks I’ve had this really strong smell of burning a few times . It’s so strong, so convincing it’s hard to ignore and not check everywhere. Even though I’ve realised nothing is actually on fire, it’s strong and impossible to dismiss. One day I was terrified driving along the car was going to go up in flames. It’s so strong for 30-60 seconds then it goes. Like a bonfire smell.

I’ve been outside and asked friends, who have looked blank and I’ve asked the kids- so I’m pretty sure it’s just me.

Has anyone else had this...? Any ideas? Did it stop?

no, mine just need blowing as, unless I'm in a hot country, it hasn't dried (but I have a low body temperature). I never go anywhere without a tissue as it always runs

Phone 111 and tell them of your symptoms.

111 is for urgent care. You're not meant to phone them with symptoms you've been having for weeks. They will tell you to speak to your GP.

How weird, I thought it was just me! I often get the smell of cigarette smoke in my nostrils!

I’m not overly stressed right now, I can go days without smelling it and I have no other sinus issue.

I was on the forest though yesterday and smelt it- but it was actually a bonfire 🤦‍♀️

No one can diagnose you other than a dr, who you should see if you're concerned.

It can be related to migraine and sinus problems. I have it from time to time, olfactory hallucinations are a thing.

Its only my opinion but maybe because we're in a time of heightened stress and anxiety it's related to your body's stress response, you're on high alert for danger.

Do you suffer with anxiety? I am scared of fire after our oven went on fire a few years ago and I often convince myself I can smell burning when nothing is, or it's just something outside.
