Did exercise/dieting reduce your breast milk?

Currently bf my DS and have recently started doing light exercise and trying to eat less crap. However I've noticed my milk has reduced and DS has been getting worked up when feeding. Has anyone else experienced this? I really want to lose abit of weight/tone up but obviously not at the expense of DS not feeding well. Any advice?
I would just wait afew more months when he's on solids/weans. But I'm only really getting the time to do this exercise as my DH is working from whilst this horrid Coronavirus situation goes on.

Is he about 3-4 months old? It's likely a coincidence if so. Your milk supply regulates around this time which can feel like a reduction in supply but it's not, it just means you're not overproducing any more. You will usually stop leaking, boobs won't feel hard and full between feeds and the baby can sometimes become a bit more distracted at the breast and seem less interested by feeding.

I didn't have this but a close friend did but she also put weight actually on by eating less. She was at the time trying to get slim for a holiday. As soon as she went back to normal eating patterns she actually was loosing weight with the breastfeeding.

I definitely found that my milk supply went down if dieted heavily - why I’m still carry baby weight 2 years later! 😂
Exercise should be ok though and nothing to stop you eating healthily as long as you are getting enough calories.

Yes mine did when I started exercising plus dieting around 3m pp. I stopped dieting and carried on with exercising and it recovered. Still breastfeeding at 17m now.

Make sure your diet is ok and you are eating and drinking enough. I lost weight but quite slowly until DS was about 9/10m then it literally just started to fall off without any effort.

Thanks everyone. He is 4 months so yes it could just be my milk supply regulating @BertieBotts
Think I will keep up with the light exercise for now but not diet as much. Although I do really need to stop eating so much rubbish I'm finding it hard as I'm hungry all the time Blush

My DS is 4 months old. I am losing weight via walking (10k steps in one go) and eating 1900-2000 calories per day.

Fluid is far more important than food, 3L a day minimum plus a decent multivitamin with iron Smile
