Hi. We’re desperately searching for a baby girls name, but it has to go with the middle name of Sylvie. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Rather off topic but I was surprised in either The Chase or Tipping Point the question was which name was made up. Cannot remember the other names but the answer was Vanessa. which I thought was Greek but was apparently made up by Johnathan Swift!

I know Wendy was made up by J M Barrie because he had an invisible playmate he called his Friendy Wendy!

Delphine or Jocelyn

I do understand your sentiments but I’m not entirely sure your new DD will eventually appreciate using the middle name you have chosen. She won’t be herself. She’ll always be someone else. This could be difficult for her. Although I can see it’s a comfort to you and families have used names in this way for generations.

Erin Sylvie is amazing.

Bairnsmum05 · 05/04/2020 10:56

Where do you live? Whilst some of these names are gorgeous they would be very out of place in some areas of a city. No offence meant but a lot of them are very middle /upper class English names.

HaudMaDug · 05/04/2020 12:21

Sorry for your loss Op.
I think Sylvie has a meaning of from the forest so how about Fleur or Fern.

LemonyLimey · 05/04/2020 12:29

Many thanks for all your positive messages, responses and suggestions.
We both love Isabel Sylvie, and possibly Sadie Sylvie (as Sadie goes best with our surname), but we’re still undecided and open to suggestions.
Thanks once again.

One of my middle names is my sister's name who died before I was born, I have recently used it as a middle name for my daughter. I think it is a lovely way of remembering loved ones
