It's clean but kind of cloudy -limescale. Now I've got a bit of time on my hands tell me what to I do to get it good as new?

Spontex window cleaning kit.

£3.50 off amazon.

I can't even tell there is glass there!

Best thing I've ever used and I've been using viakil years.

missyB1 · 03/04/2020 20:15

Another vote for Viakal. But I rarely need to do it as we use method shower spray after every shower. We don’t wipe or squeegee it, we just spray method on and leave.

msmith501 · 03/04/2020 20:17

@jenganinja to be honest I use normal malt vinegar and spray it on. Leave for a few mins, wipe over with a gentle scrubby and rinse off. Apart from the slight smell, it works wonders and cuts through any grease, dirt, soap residue etc.

NathanNathan · 03/04/2020 20:20

Long term... consider a water softener. Relatively expensive outlay (£500 - £1000) but then so much less cleaning! No limescale anywhere.

And no nasty chemicals, limescale remover is necessarily brutal.

Obviously this is dependent on finances, but really worth thinking about if they allow.

The orange cillit bang is brilliant at getting the shower door free of line scale and sparkling

yikesanotherbooboo · 03/04/2020 20:28

I do the same as Pentium

StuntNun · 03/04/2020 20:44

The Pink Stuff got deposits off mine that I thought were there for good.

Bluewavescrashing · 03/04/2020 20:45

Viakal, sponge scourer and squeegee.

Duchessofblandings · 03/04/2020 20:46

Minky glass and window cloth. Was very doubtful but they’re brilliant. No solution needed, just damp with water, wring out and wipe over.

You probably can’t go and buy one now, but ....... 😊

jenganinja · 03/04/2020 20:51

Something to look forward to duchessofblandings Wink

Thank you all I am going to give it a go with what I've got here. That's my Saturday entertainment sorted Grin

You don't.

Undercoverworker06 · 03/04/2020 21:07

We get a line of limescale down the bottom of the shower screen, and my friend who's a cleaner gave me a tip. She told me to rub it gently with a slightly damp Brillo pad, which you'd think would scratch it but it doesn't. I did the whole shower screen in my daughter's rental with it, got all the limescale off and no scratches. Then a quick spray with window cleaner, rub with damp newspaper, rinse with cold water and polish with dry newspaper. I've been doing that for years, our shower screen has been up for 5 years and we live in a very hard water area, and it's like new.

goldpartyhat · 03/04/2020 21:19

Viakal for sure. Alternative ciff cream and a soft scourer. The green ones

jenganinja · 03/04/2020 22:29

Thanks undercoverworker06 I've never thought to use a Brillo pad as like you say you'd think it'd scratch it.

Thanks for all the responses I'm really grateful Brew

And also, each time you use the shower, spray shower spray on it, Waitrose essential is really good, and squeegee it off every time.
