Lockdown

It's getting really depressing now. In SA it's so strict that we cannot even go for a walk around the block. In the UK they at least gave an allowance to go for one form of exercise a day. Just heard that we cannot even walk to the shop for groceries. My car key is broken so I can't use my car until the lockdown is over which means I have to use an Uber. I'm only getting a fraction of my salary end April. So using an Uber is something I can't afford right now.

I know it's for our protection but I think it's a bit too much. I mean if you wear a mask and walk down the road, how is that different from standing in a queue waiting to go into the shop.

They only allow ten customers in a supermarket at a time. So you wait for ages outside. But in the shop there's about 20 staff members standing in a huddle talking with no spacial awareness nor are they wearing a mask!

I have anxiety, ADHD and depression so walking let's me relax and burn up my energy. Ive also got a 3 month old and I feel she's not getting stimulated at all. We have a garden but still. It's going to be months that we will be locked in. Nobody except key workers are allowed to work at all and there's no benefits except UIF which is a fraction of our salary.

Forgot to mention that no alcohol is allowed to be bought at all. It's all locked away in the shops. I don't know how alcohol dependent people are going to cope as it's dangerous to just stop drinking if you're dependent.

Lockdown was also implemented a day before payday so most people couldn't stock. I need to get winterwear for my baby but clothes have also been locked away as apparently they're not essential 😭

Sorry to hear about your situation op. Here in the uk the restrictions aren't tight enough if you ask a lot of people especially where we live near the coast with a beautiful day and what I see online bloody idiots flicking to beaches and sea fronts already today Hmm
Our latest figures are in and they're high again and yet people STILL aren't taking it seriously.

A lot of people here in the uk are Hopi g for a firmer lockdown.

We are lucky that we can excercise once a day and that where we live is a v quiet area but people here flout the guidance.

It’s shit there is no doubting that.

But having just got a notification on my phone that the youngest victim yesterday was 5 as tough as it is I would rather stay in and protect people.
