How do I actually use a perfume squirter?

Like this. My mother in law gave it to me for my birthday and I've never managed to put perfume in it. I tried by holding the nose of my perfume to it and just squirting repeatedly, but after ages, there was only a tiny dribble in there and I felt like I was wasting it - which I was, as with so little in there the squirt hardly picked it up, so it dried up.

No perfume bottles have removable nozzles, so how are you supposed to decant them? Gently smash the bottle's neck?

(Another 2yo niggle which has become unbearable under lockdown Grin )

Have you got a very tiny funnel? IME you can only dispense perfume that comes without an atomiser, so you unsrcew the top and have access to the persume, does that make sense?

SpongeBobJudgeyPants · 03/04/2020 16:10

Access to the perfume, that should read.

SpongeBobJudgeyPants · 03/04/2020 16:11

Ok, so have reread your post. I have had splash on Clarins Eau Dymanisante (sp) from Boots in the past.

QuimReaper · 03/04/2020 16:17

Is "splash on" what it's called when it doesn't have an atomiser?

I think so, but I'll go have a google.

SpongeBobJudgeyPants · 03/04/2020 16:29

Yes, they're calling it splash here Out of stock though.
Although if you're having your fragrance choice dictated by your bottle, you may just have an ornament on your hands.

QuimReaper · 03/04/2020 16:41

Thanks SpongeBob Grin I agree it may have to remain an ornament - it's so strange though, they're not uncommon little things, but I'm jiggered if I can work out how to get any use out of it! Did Splash On used to be more common in the '50s or something, and now it's fallen out of favour but these thingums are still considered vintage and cool?

My mum passed on a perfume to me which she couldn't use, and I like but don't need - I might just try very carefully to get my husband to remove the neck.

If you're on Facebook the good ladies over at Sali Hughes: Get the look will know. Some proper fragrance fanatics there.

SpongeBobJudgeyPants · 03/04/2020 17:02

Not sure OP. I'm old, but wasn't around in the 50's Grin I do think they are maybe more ornamental these days. I have one that I used to put rosewater toner in, but gave up cos cba. :)

SpongeBobJudgeyPants · 03/04/2020 17:15

Camo. I'm trying not to go over there and look, I have enough perfumes/fragrance that I should work through. So easily tempted...

QuimReaper · 04/04/2020 09:08

Ooh, rose water! That's a lovely idea! I just want to do something with it, even if I never use the rose water.

Very high end perfume tends to have a screw top, as does CK One for some reason. I think it's normally eu de parfum rather than eu de toilette that are screw top.
Too pricy for me.
