How did I manage to get a stomach bug in lockdown?! (Lighthearted)

I haven't left my house/garden in almost two weeks and yet somehow I've managed to catch a vomiting bug. How?! HOW?!

Anyone else coming down with something that is distinctly not COVID but is causing it's own problems? I hadn't prepared for this at all 😂

Food poisoning?

DoTheNextRightThing · 02/04/2020 08:17

Possibly but I can't think what could've caused that! Haven't eaten anything odd or past it's best.

I've managed it too!
I had an awfully painful headache last night which I thought was a migraine but it's been followed by S&D now.
Feeling rough! Ive not been out in two weeks either so no idea how it's happened.
Hope you feel better soon OP.

Not illness related but I've managed to lose my wallet with all my cards in etc while at home and not needing it for anything (if I buy stuff online, my card details are auto filled).

TheVanguardSix · 02/04/2020 08:23

I haven't had it, but 3 of my neighbours have had D&V!
They've been out occasionally to shop. One goes to the local green grocer's every two days, which is too much. But our other neighbours have hardly seen the light of day!
I was wondering the same because it seems to be doing the rounds!
Tap water?

DoTheNextRightThing · 02/04/2020 11:12

Glad to hear I'm not alone! Been speaking to some colleagues who say people they know are complaining of it too. Where has it come from?

I hope it's not the tap water - but maybe I should swap to bottled water. I have some big bottles in the garage for emergencies.

Worst part is that the only thing I want to eat is Pot Noodles and I can't justify sending DP to the shops just for that 😂

Norovirus is doing the rounds. We’ve all had it, it was awful. Took 3 weeks to pass through us all. Hope you feel better soon.

Likethebattle · 02/04/2020 11:50

Yes we had it last Sunday. Only place we have been is Asda. Ticked all the boxes for norovirus.

P1nkHeartLovesCake · 02/04/2020 11:51

Your cooking 😂

avocadotofu · 02/04/2020 11:52

We had one last week. I hope you recover quickly.

BendyLikeBeckham · 02/04/2020 11:53

this is also a symptom of covid. Around a week in to the virus. So you could have a mild form and not had the cough/temp

Connie222 · 02/04/2020 13:02

None of us have left the house for four weeks now and I’ve got a snotty nose! (Not CV, just a snotty nose). Not even been in the garden as it’s a bomb site.

horrayforharoldlloyd · 02/04/2020 13:05

Stomach upsets, sickness and diarrhoea are sometimes covid symptoms

Coffeeandnutrients · 02/04/2020 13:06

Is that what we’re calling hangovers now? WinkGrin

juglover2008 · 02/04/2020 13:11

Me too. I thought food poisoning but we've all eaten the same food and I was the only one ill

NellGwynsPenguin · 02/04/2020 13:13

Don’t want to alarm you but this is a symptom of corona.

My dd had this and was diagnosed with corona.

Fearofawelshplanet · 02/04/2020 13:17

Awful stomach ache and nausea, thought it was IBS or anxiety. Hmm

DoTheNextRightThing · 02/04/2020 13:36

If it's COVID then it's COVID, just seems bizarre that there is no respiratory aspect of a respiratory disease? Just V&D and feeling like shit.

Sadly not a hangover - I don’t drink! Smile

OP posts:
NellGwynsPenguin · 02/04/2020 13:44

There doesn’t have to be a respiratory aspect.
My doctor has said that younger people get V and D, bad sore throat, and really bad headache. It’s covid.

horrayforharoldlloyd · 02/04/2020 14:24

I didn't start getting a cough until 5 days after my other symptoms. Go gently

DoTheNextRightThing · 03/04/2020 13:31

I seem to be feeling better today - managing to eat normally again! Hope everyone else with these symptoms recovers quickly - yesterday was awful.

H4SY · 21/06/2020 05:04

Can you tell me how you got on? I hope you’re fully recovered but wondering what it turned out to be as we have been doing what I thought was a good job of isolating but my middle child is vomiting & I’m so nervous it’s Covid?

Littlebyerockerboo · 21/06/2020 06:33

this is so interesting!
At the start of the year, myself, DP, my son, my ex H, his partner and thier kids ALL had the MOST horrendous D&V bug we had ever had.
It lasted days. We could all hardly move, the headaches were terrible. My DP is quite literally never sick, yet this floored him.
Once I got better DP was still very sick. I actually went out and brought a load of hand sanitizer, antibac cleaners, bleach, dettol - and belive me im not the OTT super clean freak type, but this was so bad I went on a huge cleaning freak bit.

None of us felt right for about 2 weeks, after initial sick period of 5/6 days.

We've mused that it could have been coronavirus, but dismisses it because the sickness didn't have any of its usual symptoms (ie. Respiratory infection)

H4SY · 21/06/2020 07:55

Thank you, I have heard that sickness can be linked to it. In t would seem from what is being said that this has usually been linked to a milder case, if it is Covid? I wonder if anyone has had a diagnosis of Covid having had the D&V? Thank you for your reply.

Kermitsbiggestfan · 21/06/2020 07:58

I had night sweats and tingling skin along with diarrhoea over Easter. Am assuming that was covid. No respiratory symptoms.
