To do a apprenticeship in my early 40s

I currently work in retail and hate it now specially more than ever during this time. I would love to change career and become a HCA. Obviously i would not be able to start this at present with all.this going on but wonder am into old and should stick to a job I really have no interest in.
This is not a whim I have always wanted to study to be a HCA but never found the right time due to having a disabled dd with the care I have to give her. But shes much better now so I can now focus on my life.

Go for it.

Someone at the job centre told me that they (whoever they are!!) are accepting older apprentices. She suggested I applied to the council but not heard anything.

Yes, go fir it!

You can't do apprenticeship HCAs. What course are you actually referring to? Or are you actually meaning you just want to go and work as a HCA? Or are you meaning you want to study on a Nursing Associate apprenticeship programme?

If you are 42, you still have another 25 years to work. So go for it Smile

I’m nearly 46. I started my vet nurse apprenticeship last September. Yes I’m the oldest on my course and probably a bit more exhausted than my college mates but it’s given me a new lease of life! Go for it and good luck!

I'm doing one in my late 40s, and I am not the oldest in my group.

DP is doing an apprenticeship in his 40s as he wanted to retrain. I did one in my 30s, worked out well for me.
