How to get burnt baking out of the tin?!

I made flapjacks.. took them out of the oven at the right time and thought, oh they look really wet, Chuck them back in for 4 mins.. did so... let them cool and came back to slice them up. They were supposed to be gooey and delicious. Instead they're like rocks... I chiselled some out (and they tasted great!!) but the rest are firmly stuck in the tin. Any magic ideas as to how to remove them?!

Soak the tray overnight in soapy water then scrub with a kitchen sponge. Usually works on ours.

pop the tin back in the oven, the sugar will have caramelised and spot welded itself to the tin

warming it will melt the sugar and you should be able to get them out.

next time use baking parchment...but even then turn them out when warm and peel it off.

I once saw something on how clean is your home about how to get burnt bits out of p an,s by boiling coke on th hob in them maybe put some coke in the tray and put it back in the oven? I have never tried this so not sure how successful it would be!

Thank you!!
Do these work even if half the flapjacks are still in the tin? Like it's not just burnt on bits, it's full on flapjack

I'd do the warming the tin then you can still eat it if it tastes nice.

I've soaked overnight in diluted Persil liquid before (any laundry detergent will probably work), then put in the dishwasher the next day and they came up sparkling.

Warm in the tin after a spritz of water and a covering with foil. This should make a bit of steam to lossen the baked-on flapjacks. Whatever you can salvage can be used to make a trifle!!

Soaking in biological washing power and water is great for removing any kind of burnt on residue from pans or baking trays etc.

Fairy power spray and a 15 minute soak. I had to get my last one via Amazon as shops don’t seem to keep it, it’s marvellous.

Stick the tray in a sink of hit water with a washing tablet and leave it over night.

LaurieSchafferIsAllBitterNow · 02/04/2020 15:20

excellent ...glad it worked!

anything with that amount of sugar in is best not left to go cold on a tray.

Wow OP you are literally me on Tuesday! My first go at flapjacks and they were brilliant. Tasted heavenly, soft and gooey. An hour or so later after we'd finished our program I went to cut the rest out of the tin- big mistake. They'd solidified to cement!

bebanjo · 02/04/2020 16:49

Get yourself a silicon ‘tin’ for next time, they never stick to them.

mummyje20 · 02/04/2020 17:05

MiniatureRed genuinely frustrated me so much I nearly cried (in my defence I'm 33 weeks pregnant 😂)
@LaurieSchafferIsAllBitterNow yes! I've learnt my lesson!
