Easter holidays

With our Easter holidays due to start next week please could people let me know some good ways of passing the time with the kids (9 years and 7 years). Since lockdown started we have got into a good little routine with the school days but weekends are trickier to fill. Any great ideas? Thanks in advance.

We have a few 'plans' for the holidays. On the warmer days (18c expected on Sunday) children will camp in garden. We have cleaned the BBQ and are having a BBQ with music and wine a few times a week now it is brighter.

We have party night every Friday and Saturday evening, to break up the week. Everyone has to dress up, and we try to tailor the food to the idea.

Easter egg decoration day x 3
Easter decoration of house with said decorations. No need to hold back this is Easter grotto time Grin

We have planned for next week mocktail making, baking, spa afternoon complete with massage, dogs grooming day and birthday party (dont ask!) and gardening. I have managed to clean all of the garden games so we will be having plenty of fun when it is sunny.

We have also started decorating the outside trees with easter eggs and fairy lights.

I am not expecting to have the energy to do activities247 as I am already really tired, so some school work in the morning, followed by an activity and then some TV/screen time is loosely what we will be doing. I am approaching this as a marathon. I don't want to do too much and burn out on week one. I am also planning to do something for myself once a day - yesterday I brushed my hair (yes it has come to that!) and shaved my legs, today I am aiming to pluck my eyebrows and have a long bath.

Failing all else order exploding kittens on line, my dc will play that for hours and you can rest at the same time.

** wine is obviously for me!!

Once you have factored in a daily nature walk, meal times and a later start in the mornings, I am guessing you will soon get into the swing of things as I have.
I have hidden some extra treats for the days when are feeling the strain.

I have also ordered one of the houses you can glue together, it is a DIY dolls house. It looks fun, but go for the easier ones or you will still be doing it next Easter :)

Our Easter holidays started on Monday. We have done the same as the week before. Shock

I have my eldest only "at school". I did a big sort out and put all the unused crafts and kits in one pile so the children could find them.
We've been out on bike rides, done a bit of geocaching, Pokemon Go, gardening.
Yesterday we made some paper aeroplanes and had a throwing competition. Made some chocolate lollies yesterday and are doing banana muffins today.

Brilliant. Thanks for everyone's ideas.

We used to have a family Olympics: jumping competition, throwing, bow and arrow, bean bags into hoops, anything you can think of, a chart and points for the winner, handicap for adults, a computer game, we had some great times!

We will both still be working, but the DCs (teens) will probably do more cooking and baking, some craft stuff, exercise. I can see things like the marble run coming out. If the weather is fine a bbq once in a while but our gardens are small and we don't want to annoy the neighbours.

@cornishdreams1 - your activities sound so much fun! Very lucky kids! My 2 are still small but I’ve screen grabbed your post for future reference! Enjoy!

cocoaweebles · 01/04/2020 10:30

Use old cardboard boxes to make a marble run from upstairs to downstairs , they can video it to show their mates

elQuintoConyo · 01/04/2020 10:39

Any ideas for an 8yo locked in a flat with no garden and ceramic floors? We had to give up on Joe Wicks as too noisy for downstairs neighbours. Nothing noisy. Can't go outside - very jealous of your bike rides and Pokemon go, it's like the UK is another country Grin

We aren't getting post and are getting quite limited for craft stuff, so don't want to go all out decorating paper chains etc for Easter. We're doing science experiments, boring homework, WhatsApp chats, Lego challenge. And making an unholy mess Grin and slowly losing the will to live!

I won't be working next week (teacher) so have much more time to do fun things with child.

Any ideas....?
