Baby swallowed shampoo!

PinkMeTickle · 31/03/2020 21:02

The standard Johnson's baby shampoo, she got some of the bubbles on her hand and hand went in her mouth and before we noticed she was chomping away (3-4 month old baby so she's starting that 'mouth' stage)

I googled it and people seem to say ring NHS to be sure but 111 is so busy so I'm not sure whether to do it!

Any advice anyone?

Baby shampoo isn’t harmful worst that could happen is that baby could vomit but that unlikely to happen if it’s a small amount.
The gel washing machine sachets are poisonous.

She'll be absolutely fine. It's baby shampoo. It's literally made to clean babies. It's not toxic to them.

Please don't waste 111's time.

Needingsupportplease · 31/03/2020 21:08

My babies done this a few times 🤦🏼‍♀️ I'm sure baby will be fine, if anything might get an upset tummy, try not to worry

She will be fine, don't waste the time of the 111 folk.

Oh god you want to see the things my kids have put in their mouth.

If baby shampoo was that bad for babies it simply wouldn’t be on the shelves.

Lighten up.

When you say "some of the bubbles", if it's a little bit mixed in with some bath water or she's touched her lathered hair then I wouldn't worry. The worst that can have happened is that it didn't taste very nice.

If she's actually consumed several mouthfuls of neat shampoo then a quick call to 111 would probably be advisable.

Direct from the bottle or just in the bath?

Either way its fine.

hookiwooki · 31/03/2020 21:13

Also, DS (19 months) shovelled in a handful of dirt from the garden this afternoon. Most of it came back out - I don't think he appreciated the texture. Woodlice are a good one too. Hooking them out can be a bit grim so generally speaking I see these as extra protein.

Thank you everyone who has been helpful Smile
I have health anxiety so I get worried very easily and I'm still adjusting to being a mum (loving every second!)

The literal worst case scenario is a runny bottom literally

milkysmum · 31/03/2020 22:10

Aww she'll get worst than that in her mouth I assure you! Please don't ring 111 because she got baby shampoo bubbles in her mouth, honestly please just don't...

NotYourHolidayDick · 31/03/2020 22:15

111 for bubbles 😂
OP you have a lot to learn. I'm not laughing at you I promise, but please come back to this thread in 4 years time and laugh at yourself.
Your baby will be fine, I promise Smile

PinkMeTickle · 31/03/2020 22:28

To clarify - I am NOT going to call 111. No ill effects so far :-)

I'm sure I'll look back on this and laugh!
