Beautiful. I watched it from my back garden, all the way across the sky over my house.
It looked so close!

Yes I saw the Moon, Venus, and the space station all in one sky, amazing!

sleepwhenidie · 31/03/2020 20:58

Yes, so cool!

Clawdy · 31/03/2020 20:58

Not heard about this!

sleepwhenidie · 31/03/2020 20:59

The only safe place for self isolation 🤣

DadDadDad · 31/03/2020 21:03

Extraordinary coincidence - I was putting out the bins on Sunday night, invited my wife outside to admire beautiful crescent Moon and Venus and at that minute the ISS came up and passed in front of Venus! I knew it was the ISS because a friend photographed it the night before, but I hadn't known it was due, and I'm sure no-one will believe I didn't plan it...

Anyway, checked times and went out to watch it with my DD last night and just now. It's very bright at the moment. Amazing!

Halfeatentoast · 31/03/2020 21:05

Yey! Amazing!

endofthelinefinally · 31/03/2020 21:06

Venus is spectacular tonight.

Me. And Uranus had been floating around too. Fabulous.

endofthelinefinally · 31/03/2020 21:19

Ah! So that was Uranus. I wondered.

OP posts:
LochJessMonster · 31/03/2020 21:29

Uranus? Is that visible without binoculars?

endofthelinefinally · 31/03/2020 21:32

I saw a teeny pinprick of light moving. I think it must have been Uranus.

It makes you wonder what they're thinking up there, doesn't it?

TheNinjaWife · 31/03/2020 21:41

We spotted it too!

Oldraver · 31/03/2020 21:48

Saturday was brilliant as the crescent moon was very low and ISS came up in between the moon and Venus

TeaStory · 31/03/2020 21:53

If you saw it moving, it’s not Uranus.

Tiny moving pinpricks of light are satellites.

endofthelinefinally · 31/03/2020 21:55

Oh thank you. I don't know much about what moves and doesn't.
I must do a bit of reading.

TeaStory · 31/03/2020 21:56

Try the free StarWalk app - if you set it up and hold your phone/tablet up to the Sky it will move with you so you know what you are looking at!

LittleBoyJuly2020 · 31/03/2020 21:57

We're walking the dogs shortly, do we have a chance of seeing it tonight? Could someone tell me what I should be looking for? Thank you!

Northernsoullover · 31/03/2020 21:57

This isolation has taught me that a career on the space station is not for me. How the bloody hell do they cope?

endofthelinefinally · 31/03/2020 21:59

Thanks @TeaStory

Chuffingchuff · 31/03/2020 22:00

Yes my DS stayed up to watch it! He loves space and it was his first time 😊

Mirada · 31/03/2020 22:01

Best opportunity for ages, but cloudy here tonight in West Yorks......quelle dommage.

DadDadDad · 31/03/2020 22:03

@LittleBoyJuly2020 - you've missed it tonight but next chance is 9:34pm tomorrow. I find this webpage helpful for upcoming times:

www.meteorwatch.org/iss-international-space-station-times-uk-spring-2020/

Look to the West, horizon somewhere below Venus. It will move steadily upwards - noticeably moving, you might think it's a plane at first. Not as bright as Venus, but as bright as the brighter stars. getting brighter as it gets higher.

That said, it will probably be cloudy tomorrow. Sad

LaurieSchafferIsAllBitterNow · 31/03/2020 22:04

you can get an app to tell you when it's going over...I have a wait now stuck in the far north it's won't be visible

starlink is another thing to look out for, a big trail of satellites, but again I think i am a bit far north for a while.

I have the ISS detector app.

Cooroo · 31/03/2020 23:26

And there's a comet on its way!
