Wrong lyrics you sang as a kid

I've been rediscovering a lot of my old 80's favourites during this weird time. I suspect it's a bit of a comfort blanket as all stuff I would listen to as a kid. I was a total Stock Aitken and Waterman pop fan and loved all of their stuff. Which brings me to the lyrics I was convinced I could hear.

I bring you, Bananarama:

Only you can set me free
Cos I'm guilty, guilty
Guilty as a BROKEN BEE

I genuinely thought that was the lyric. Any others?!

Some more..
When were teenagers my friend's dad asked why Billy Ocean was telling everyone to go and get stuffed (When the going gets tough)

My son when he was little thought the Bee Gees were singing 'ah ah ah ah stabilise, stabilise' for Staying Alive

Mollypolly2610 · 01/04/2020 23:07

Madonna

Last night I slept with some Diego

Blah blah. Eyes like potatoes

BournvilleGreen · 02/04/2020 00:24

No, it's "guilty as a drunken thief"! according to DH.

"Nice beaver, nice beaver" (Night Fever)

Another one for Paul Young taking a piece of meat with him

Ilovebanoffeepie · 02/04/2020 00:42

I always thought Nelly Furtardos “Im like a bird” was “hum like a bird”. Nobody has ever let me forget it!!

Carouselfish · 02/04/2020 00:58

Speed Demon by Michael Jackson, thought 'pull over boy' was 'put up a barn'. No sense at all.

Tillygetsit · 02/04/2020 03:01

A friend of mine thought More Than a Woman was Bald headed Woman Grin

iklboo · 02/04/2020 11:11

Red Hot Chili Peppers Scar Tissue. Apparently they're singing

With the birds I'll share this lonely viewin'

Not

In Bernard's shed I'm so lonely with you

sprite25 · 06/04/2020 02:06

Not sure who it's by but the one that's something like 'I can deal with the bad nights when I'm with my baby yeah' DD always sings it as 'I can deal with my bad eyes, when I'm with my baby Em' 😂

NewtonPulsifer · 06/04/2020 02:29

Bees Gees You should be Dancin

Instead of “what you doing on your back”

I heard:

What ya chewin’ on - your fat!

Like it was some sort of motivational get you and move song Grin

NewtonPulsifer · 06/04/2020 02:29

*you’re fat

nokia3210567 · 06/04/2020 02:46

I used to sing "don't cry for my auntie tina" on the toilet as a child

StrictlyAFemaleFemale · 06/04/2020 07:50

I am the lord of the dance settee.

InTheCludgie · 06/04/2020 08:26

I thought that Whitney Houston was singing "I wanna build a heap with somebody" instead of "I wanna feel the heat with somebody". My dad was working on a compost heap in the garden at the time, so my 8 year old mind assumed Whitney was singing about something similar

Fleamaker123 · 06/04/2020 10:26

@InTheCludgie.. that's hilarious Grin

Funnyface1 · 06/04/2020 11:16

I thought it was "freedom, whooaaaa..." instead of Feed the World when I was a kid.

xyzandabc · 06/04/2020 11:27

I was an adult before I learned that the words at school were not:

I am the lord of the dance setee.

I imagined all the disciples jumping about on a giant sofa, sounded like a great dance to me.

NewtonPulsifer · 06/04/2020 11:36

Thought of another one:

Take That:
It only takes a miracle....to fall in love.

Kalifa · 06/04/2020 11:54

Sam Smith: How do you sleep.
Dialling up the numbers. I thought he sang dialling up the nubers, and thinking that nubers is just neighbours in a northern British dialect.

Kalifa · 06/04/2020 12:00

Obviously it’s a new song, but there must be something wrong with my hearing still.

Emeeno1 · 06/04/2020 12:05

'What's the feeling, what's the feeling tonight?' What's the meaning of life , Soul II Soul

RonnieBarkingMad · 06/04/2020 12:38

I used to think Madonna was also called Mama Terial (“cos I am a Material girl”/“cos I am Mama Terial girl”)

2beautifulbabs · 06/04/2020 12:52

Queen tie your mother down I use to sing tiger of the town 🤣

Kalim8 · 06/04/2020 13:54

I heard "groove is in the heart" as "move across the haaaaall"
And
"and dream is all I do" from "I should be so lucky" I heard as "and dream of Solasoo".
Solasoo was a glamorous and exotic holiday destination like Miami (so I thought).
