For those who had holidays or weddings booked...

Will you get a full refund or will you lose out in anyway (financially)?

I ask as we had an end of May holiday booked. I haven’t looked into it with the holiday company as I’m sure they will be inundated.

And I was die to go to a wedding in early May. I’m so sad for the couple that it’s been cancelled, and I was curious to know if they will be refunded? But don’t want to ask her.

Booked flights to Tunisia with BA and hotel via Expedia. Got full refund on flights and was able to cancel the hotel for free.

I also had a hen do to Paris in April. Pre-paid my hotel on booking dot com and got a full refund. I could only get Eurostar vouchers to use for a trip at a later date. But that’s fine because I definitely will go anyway as soon as it’s okay to travel.

Should have added, my travel dates were supposed to be in March and April.

Bringringbring12 · 30/03/2020 17:36

Anyone know if just free reschedule with easyJet or is full refund possible?

Twospaniels · 30/03/2020 17:41

I have an airbnb cottage booked in the UK for mid May. At the moment they are obly refunding if you should start your holiday before 16 April.
We were meant to holiday with my sister and her husband coming over from the USA but they can no longer fly over here.
I tried to can on those grounds but was refused. So I am holding tight to see if airbnb stretch their dates out at all.
Otherwise I will try my travel insurance.

Was supposed to be going away tomorrow for a few days to France.

Booked before all this at the start of January and all on non refundable basis. Before lockdown started about 2-3 weeks ago and before official cancellation:

Booking.com - refunded hotel costs (already back in our account)
Holiday Extras - credit voucher on account for airport hotel and parking
Europcar - refund for car hire (already back into our account)

EasyJet - flights cancelled but cannot get through to them to get a refund. I can claim a voucher or change my flights for free online but not refund. Spent 4 hours trying the calls today to no avail. I have tried contacting them in so many different ways. I have also sent a credit card claim in to see if that works. They say on their own social media a full refund is possible but only by calling customer services - which is impossible it seems.

We were due to be staying in a cottage thing in Cornwall from this Friday. We were able to change the booking so we're now going next Easter instead. I think the price difference is something like an extra £20 to bed paid by February.

3 holidays cancelled. Should have gone on holiday today, full refund from the holiday company, holiday booked for the end of April has been re-booked and the holiday in June has been fully refunded. Hoping Semtember and October can go ahead. Its a bugger but hey ho

GarkandGookin · 03/04/2020 20:47

@JosephineKarlsson
The company have just been in touch and has offered a credit note for a future booking if the lockdown continues and we are unable to go.
I am so relieved, as I assume if I have signed to accept the small print then it is part of the contract (am very much NOT a lawyer though)

We were booked to go to London for my 30th in mid May. BA will give us a voucher for the flights and the hotel has offered a full refund up to 23:59 the night before we are due to check in, even though we booked a non-refundable room.

MadisonAvenue · 03/04/2020 20:58

We’re booked to go to LA in May. Currently, for holidays in May, Virgin are offering to reschedule or choose a different destination, I’m holding out in the hope that FCO advice will change so that we can get a refund.

I had an email the other day to inform me that the airport hotel we’d booked for the night before our flight is cancelled.

SouthCoastShell · 03/04/2020 21:13

We were due to fly to Canada today. Most costs are being refunded (Hotels, ski hire etc.)but the flights are refusing to refund and will only offer us flights up to the value (2k)in the next 12 months.
Only problem with that is will the airline still be operating in a year? What will happen if they go into administration?

Echobelly · 03/04/2020 21:19

Had a bat mitzvah booked - paid a £500 deposit to venue, am moving BM to next summer and if venue's still operational (not a certainty) can probably just move it, they're very informal. But prepared to lose it if needs be.

Have paid for flight to NY in August (bought before any of this blew up) - we reckon the airline will go under before then so I can claim money back off Barclaycard.

Lyricallie · 03/04/2020 21:30

I've had to reschedule my wedding. So far so good all my suppliers are able to move date. However the honeymoon has been trickier as a lot of my Thailand flights will only allow you to reschedule flights to end of April. Whereas my honeymoon was May. British companies have allowed us to change.

EcoCustard · 03/04/2020 21:37

We should of flown yesterday. You have us the option to either rebook or refund as soon as the foreign office advice changed. We chose refund and looking to rebook for next year now as uncertainty over summer remains and Autumn isn't an option for us along with finances.

EcoCustard · 03/04/2020 21:40

*Tui gave, autocorrect fail.

IceKitten · 03/04/2020 21:48

We were booked to go skiing tomorrow. The French ski resorts closed in mid March so we cancelled three weeks ago. We got a full refund on the accommodation, ski lessons and TGV train. We can't get a refund on the Eurostar part of the train journey - we'll try to claim on travel insurance, but it's not the end of the world if that's the only thing we lose out on.

ComeTheFuck0nBridget · 03/04/2020 21:57

I was due to go to Spain end of May. I kept an eye on the Tui website and as soon as they said they were waiving fees for changing holidays, I rang them. Was on hold for an hour but worth it as it took a weight off all our minds.
