What does the word ‘bimonthly’ mean to you?

Had a discussion at work, it always meant every two months to me but my boss meant twice a month!

According to the Oxford English Dictionary it has two meanings which is rather confusing. So just curious as to how many think like I do, and how many think the other way?

Until reading this thread I would have always presumed it means twice a month (I'm Irish so wondering if that makes a difference)

flowerbombVR · 31/03/2020 01:08

Twice a month.

52 weeks per year is 26 fortnight.

12 months is 24 times.

Therefore bimonthly is less per year.

GenderfreeNatalie · 31/03/2020 01:11

Bi-weekly is every 2 weeks.
Bi monthly is every 2 months.

Sorry that should have been the difference between fortnight and bimonthly Smile

Geepipe · 31/03/2020 02:22

Twice a month. At work she sell magazines that are bimonthly and come out twice a month.

Peppafrig · 31/03/2020 02:54

Every 2 or three months

Gooseysgirl · 31/03/2020 03:02

The correct answer is that it can mean both! So either twice monthly or once every two months.

prickledgherkins · 31/03/2020 04:01

Every other month

Thepigeonsarecoming · 31/03/2020 04:03

Every other month, twice a month is fortnightly
