Any paramedics here? Training questions..am I too late?

Hi, I was hoping I might find a paramedic or two here to advise me as I dont know where to ask right now.

When I was young I wanted to be a paramedic, for various reasons I didn't go into it and just worked admin role, although my A levels are well suited, biology, health and social care and psychology.

Anyway I've two young kids, stuck in a dead end job and at 30 I've still got a lot of years of working left. Before all the corona virus I was thinking of retraining and have felt a change was needed and this feels like a catalyst

Id love to train but, is it possible to train part time? I can get help with my kids but not full time. And is it pointless trying if I'll only ever be able to work part time? Or for the next 15 years anyway? I wish I'd done it when younger, i want to do a job I love but worry I've left it too late

Any help appreciated

Why would it only be part time? Could you find a childminder? Before and after school club?

It is possible to train part time but I believe it takes 5 years (I think).

With that kind of work you really need a strong support network with regards to childcare.

Thanks for your reply, that has been my worry. I dont have the best support re childcare and I'm limited on how much I could spend on childcare to

Youngest is only one and I wouldn't want to send her away full time.

Do you already have a degree?

I assume you don't as you only mention A levels.

There is a degree route to be a paramedic and you would be entitled to childcare assistance I believe?

It would be a case of finding a good childminder perhaps?
