Are my dc the only ones who still love the Wii?

Ok I know they aren't because we don't actually have a console currently - dd1 plays at friend A's, dd2 plays at friend B's and C's. They never talk about or play on other consoles! And I mean old school Wii, not Switch or U. We got one when they were popular, used it on and off (not that much really) until it broke. Then after a bit bought one and then another secondhand for £30 off eBay, now both also broken. Yesterday Dd2 begged me to buy another! Is this just nostalgia? Is it quaint that at least three families we know are still using this decade old tech?

I don't know Hearts, but each time the console just stopped being able to read the discs. Couldn't fix the problem.

DD was really enjoying starting to play tennis at primary school so she's been playing Wii tennis in the lounge. Both kids have also been playing Mario Kart as we have the steering wheels that the remotes click into. I'm currently charging batteries to put in the balance board that was in the attic.

We also have a PS3 so DD has been doing Just Dance/Dance Star Party using the Move remote.

We still use our Wii. Does the job. Visiting children love playing it. My DC think it’s fab and haven’t ever used anything else.

We've still got ours but need to assemble it. God knows where the board has gone though.

CallarMorvern · 30/03/2020 14:08

Ours has never been out of use, we have 2 and 2 boards. The second set we bought at a charity shop for £15 (it's a black one). I love the fact that you can pick up the games so cheaply now. We have a training mat too, the games are mental for that and knackering!

Mine love Just Dance!

mummytothree87 · 30/03/2020 17:42

I just pulled ours out the cupboard last night as they were complaining they were bored of the switch. They haven't played it in over 5 years. I only kept it as it was a gift from my late dad.

SugarMiceInTheRain · 30/03/2020 17:44

My youngest still loves it. We might do some Wii bowling this week as a family, something else to do inside isn't it?

Bohomie · 30/03/2020 17:47

My dc do, 1 primary, 1 secondary age.
They don't have a switch, I think if they did the wii would be made redundant

We love the wii here. My 7 and 4 year old played nicely together on it for hours yesterday. I like how there are plenty of easy to understand and cooperative games. A Wii game always makes a great stocking filler for my eldest as they only cost a few quid. However my local games shop have just stopped selling Wii games. Luckily I don’t think we will ever tire of Mario Kart!

DobbyTheHouseElk · 30/03/2020 18:28

Where do you get new games from? We only have Wii sports.

bookmum08 · 30/03/2020 20:01

Dobby obviously not at the moment but CEX, Cash Converters, charity shops and car boot sales are where I usually find games.

HugeAckmansWife · 30/03/2020 20:31

My 10 yo loves his. Prefers it to the switch. Its connected via wires, old fashioned yellow, red and white plugs.
