I got a 'person at risk' letter for DD today so really hoping I might get a delivery.
I've got through the part where you enter your last order number, and your nectar number but now been on hold for 20 mins.
At one point the message did give another number for vulnerable people but they only quickly gave it once and I missed it..

Thanks fivedogstofeed, it's unbelievably frustrating isn't it.

Started phoning at 8.00am and got through 2 hours later, but we're on the list now, so fingers crossed.

Would it not make sense [...] To increase deliveries?

user1471530109 And where do you think they’re going to get the staff from? Supermarkets at extremely short staffed right now.

You've completely misread what I've said.

I suggested a new approach of delivering to a set area on a set day. That way, less travel time and potentially more deliveries. Morrisons (I think) always highlight when a delivery is happening nearby so you can book to save fuel.

I also think it wouldn't take a massive amount of planning to have all click and collect instead of the shop being open. It would massively reduce contact for employees and customers. Everything online, tells you which part of carpark to collect from. Yes I realise when you get there, there would be waiting. But least you're in your car waiting instead of queuing outside. Payment taken online.

The supermarkets are doing their best. I feel for every one of the people having to work and putting themselves and their families in dangers. I'm certainly not having a go. But people are scared. There are a lot of people being told to isolate. What do those people do when they can't get food for their families? You can't keep asking neighbours and community. It's not sustainable and putting their health at risk too.

I think realistically there are a lot of bright ideas about how shopping could be improved. The problem is they would be time consuming and expensive to implement. Supermarkets aren't public services.

Supermarket websites and their IT teams are barely coping with traffic as it is, let alone with simultaneously trying to introduce major changes to their systems behind the scenes.
