What's the furthest you've driven to from the UK?

We were supposed to go on holiday (long flight) CV and the break it has given the earth has caused me to rethink if we should be doing stuff like that anyway due to the environment impact. I love travelling. Next year, where could we realistic drive to with three teenagers? Would love to go to Moscow, don't think it's feasible though?

Not me, but my in laws regularly drive from the south of the uk to Tenerife. They do take a few days though!

How do they get the car there? Shock

I've driven from the UK to Georgia. I've also been to Russia a few times. These have been with work but I can give you general information if you'd like. Pretty much everywhere else in Europe I've been too aswell.

In my own car I've been as far as Romania and Hungary a couple of times.

@GiantKitten there are two ferry services from Spain ...

GiantKitten · 28/03/2020 15:55

Oh!
Thanks, Moose Smile
I was thinking they’d have to get a ferry to Morocco & then drive south & get another one. Ferry all the way sounds much better!

Portugal in the west, Venice is the east. The trick is to only book one week at your destination and spend days getting there and back visiting places you otherwise would never see

chomalungma · 28/03/2020 17:22

Norway.

Calais - Copenhagen
Ferry to Oslo
Oslo to Bergen

Back via North Denmark

Loved it - but Germany is big!!

North east England to southern France, st tropez, Cannes.

Not very adventurous really but we did france most years, ile doleron, La Rochelle, avoriaz, Bordeaux

Fabulous memories..but it was far enough with three kids.

LochJessMonster · 28/03/2020 18:22

French alps, south of Spain, Portugal.

North east of England to Morocco with our then 9 month old and 2 year old in 2017...we drove to Portsmouth to get ferry to Santander, then through Spain to Algeciras on the boat to Tangier, was very tiring especially as husband wanted to just drive straight through on the way there anyways which obviously wasnt the best mind set as having small children who need to get out to get some air ect, he took a more relaxed approach coming back through thankfully, inlaws are all in Morocco so we stayed for a month which is always lovely!

LightDrizzle · 28/03/2020 18:31

Hull to Croatia I think.

ChicChicChicChiclana · 28/03/2020 18:33

London to champagne region of France. I hate being cooped up in the car.

Scruffyoak · 28/03/2020 18:36

We did devon to isle of skye overnight with 5 kids. Took about 14 hrs maybe .

pippishortsocks · 28/03/2020 18:36

Sweden a few times and Austria once.

WellGoshDarnIt · 28/03/2020 20:09

@GiantKitten - yep, they get the ferry across from Spain. They have a camper, so they take a few days to drive down. The crossing is loooonngg though! 🤢

Furthest in a car was Peterborough to Frejus, but we took two days. Furthest in a single day was probably 650+ miles from Lincolnshire to Cornwall and back, double manned in an HGV. We started at 0400, got back at 2230. Maddest job I've ever done, delivering to solar panel fitters. The firm were pushing the tariff deadline, so they didn't mind spending £500 on wages and the same on diesel.
