From one NHS worker to all who clapped... thank you.
Truly humbling, and nice to feel appreciated.

I'll be taking this feeling into a run of 4 night shifts starting tomorrow, so thank you all ❤️

In the lead up.. I thought the whole thing was incredibly silly and cringe-worthy, but I'll be honest, a wave of emotion overtook that and surprised me

Everyone was out on our street or at a window.
Literally every house.
It was emotional.
Good luck Flowers

RoyalBankOfFuckThis · 26/03/2020 20:30

I didn't expect to hear anything. Lots of people clapping, fireworks. People banging pans.

Was lovely.

Thanks for all you do OP.

Rosegoldglass · 26/03/2020 20:30

Our street out and fireworks. Very emotional and grateful to be able to show my support.

AWintersBall · 26/03/2020 20:31

Interesting, I too am an NHS worker albeit not in a front line role. I too felt the whole thing is just a bit cringe and not my cup of tea at all.

As it happens I was in the middle of putting small children to bed at 8pm and didn't hear anything from my street anyway, but have since seen countless posts, texts etc from people saying how moving it was.

Fair enough, I'm glad it touched some people and that it made you feel appreciated. I hope your shifts are bearable...!

sockittome123 · 26/03/2020 20:31

It really made me smile. Thank you for all that you and your colleagues do OP!

ThroughThickAndThin01 · 26/03/2020 20:31

Thought it might be a bit cringey and one man and his dog, but the numbers of people doing it were astonishing. It bought a tear to my eye.

Thank you OP, and all frontline workers.

SapphireSalute · 26/03/2020 20:34

i was also a bit dismissive and thought it cringe

but went out with dd who is also frontline nhs and was surprised and moved. new build area where nobody really mixes, but they were all out

KellyHall · 26/03/2020 20:35

There were shouts, claps, whoops and fireworks in our street 👏👏👏

People should always remember to be grateful!

thequeenbeyondthewall · 26/03/2020 20:37

Lots of fireworks here. We live about a mile from aintree hospital.

I felt very emotional listening to the clapping and watching the fireworks.

I'm not an nhs worker. You are all amazing and selfless. I'm not great with words but thank you for al you do for us all. Xxxxxxx

MrsCastiel · 26/03/2020 20:39

I also felt it was a bit cringey (not the sentiment, more the viral challenge aspect which I usually hate) but was properly choked up when I stuck my head out to hear clapping. And I joined in.

lokoho · 26/03/2020 20:39

I was very touched.

I have been a carer for nearly 20 years and this is the first time anyone has thanked me. I had to sit down for a minute.

DazzlingDee · 26/03/2020 20:41

So emotional. Couldn’t see a house from my front door where there wasn’t someone at their door or hanging out a window. Amazing

Thank you all staff of the NHS and Frontline Flowers

SunshineAvenue · 26/03/2020 20:43

Didn't think anyone was going to do it. Noise where I am was incredible 👏👏👏

ZoChan · 26/03/2020 20:47

Same! Could hear it from t back of my house and the whole street were out. Felt very uniting in such discombobulating times

newgalebeach · 26/03/2020 20:47

Very emotional, I was moved that so many joined in.
Stay safe everyone

TheoriginalLEM · 26/03/2020 20:47

Thank YOU for everything you do, not just now but all of the time.

I wasnt going to do it but I thought ahhh why not, glad I did - the emotion surprised me.

Foxyloxy1plus1 · 26/03/2020 21:09

Such a small thing to do to say thank you, but it was very moving and made us all feel a bit connected again, at a time when it’s easy to feel alone.

iamclaireandfleabag · 26/03/2020 21:12

I'm frontline health care but not nhs (thank you Tories for the business and market model') but I class myself as the NHS foster child. Ideas overwhelmed by my street clapping. I clapped for me, my colleagues and my wider healthcare community. I may have had a little done tho in my eye...

iamclaireandfleabag · 26/03/2020 21:13

Typos galore! Something in my eye

Insaneinthemembury · 26/03/2020 21:16

I thought it was a bit cringe, I'm British after all.
But EVERYONE on my street was out and I was glad to clap away! Made me feel quite emotional. Thank you NHS

itswinetime · 26/03/2020 21:25

Just another voice to say I to thought it was a bit cringe and would never take off but after a low day of anxiety and stress it really lifted me! So thank you to all those that took part!
