Hercule Poirot/Miss Lemon/Captain Hastings

I’m sorry, I feel like I’ve hogged threads today - this is the third one I’ve started I think. Too much time on my hands.

Anyway - watching an episode of Poirot where he falls in love with a Russian Countess. Miss Lemon and Captain Hastings are perturbed!

Does Miss Lemon secretly love Poirot? I don’t think they’d be suitable really, they’d drive each other up the wall. But Miss Lemon and Captain Hastings could make a go of it I think. They’d be good company for each other.

What does anyone else think?

@Grabbner - the house is in Charterhouse Square in London, nearnBarbican/St Barts

No, he marries a British red head and they move to South America, and run a farm, which is successful. He has children and returns years later, he is in Poirot’s last case.
Miss Lemon was purely an efficient secretary in the books. Poirot’s faithful manservant ‘Georges’ is the character I wish they had brought in to the tv show.

Oh thank you HerBigChance, that’s good to know. Can I ask how you know - it’s not your house is it?!

Hastings has an eye for the ladies, don’t think miss lemon is his type, from seeing films where gets infacuated with certain female characters

Hastings only actually appeared in eight of the full length Poirot novels. The earlier shorter one hour adaptations are of the short story collection.
George does appear in some of the later tv adaptations whatevah.

Isn't Hastings married to Cinderella? They live in Argentina I think.

HerBigChance · 16/04/2020 08:33

Grabber, sadly not! It's just something I randomly know.

No, Poirot and Hastings are clearly lovers. Arnt they perturbed cos she's a thief?

I think that house is a few different ones, but im sure ITV own one that appears in a lot of different series. Heres a list anyway

Thanks for the list user, I didn’t know such lists existed!

Hastings is displaying genteel outrage in tonight’s episode - “the nerve of the fellow!”

I think I’d quite like a Hastings in my life. He’d be very dependable - I could guarantee the cars would get washed and polished every Sunday, and the grass mown regularly. These things are important now that I’m past the first flush of youth :)

Although I’m a bit shocked to see he’s just ordered a pint of beer with his breakfast 😯
