So bloody annoyed with sil selfish attitude

I’m so bloody pissed off with my sil and her selfish attitude. She’s still sending my 2 year nephew to the childminder 3 days a week. Her husband works as a radiographer (cancer treatment) and she works doing research at a university and is currently working from home (writing up research I think). This means bil is a key worker but she’s not! Sil in law has decided that she’s going to use the key worker golden ticket and still send her son to the childminder. Both myself and dh are teachers and I explained that she shouldn’t be doing this. Childcare is now just for when there is absolutely no one at home to look after a child. It is NOT for when the other non key worker parent just wants some piece and quiet to work. Her answer was ‘well I think it’s the best decision for us, I can’t get anything done with him here’. Half the bloody country are having to manage. I don’t see why she should be such a special case. For example, today I helped my son do his school work, entertained my pre-schooler and responded to endless emails from the kids I teach. She’s putting so many people at risk with her selfish attitude. I didn’t send my son to school and my daughter to the childminder so I could ‘get on with things’. I just managed - like everyone else is doing.

Also, in your case, I WOULD blame the SIL more than BIL although they're both being twats.

In the case of our neighbours, it's the men I'm MORE furious at as they're the ones who are working from home but still happily sending their kids to school because they can't possibly get their work done while the children are at home. Feckers.

YADNBU. I am appalled at the amount of people who think the rules don't apply to them.

NHS Nurse who lives in the flat opposite is minding someone's child on a regular/daily basis. Her sister popped round for a bit and now they are all off out to visit their parents. Selfish fuckers!!!

I've become a fucking curtain twitcher because of the shear amount of comings and goings….(off to buy some noise cancelling headphones)

Agree with op.
Our childminder had to close.

I live on a side road but it's also a cut through for main shops etc. The amount of people I've seen. I've seen 10x more than before the rules were on place. Admittedly families walking dog away from ppl. But often there's 2 or 3 ladies with prams. Obviously not from same household that meet up daily.

@MARMITEcheese2020 and @xGAIAx it’s totally infuriating isn’t it. The news just now was saying again how important it is not to mix with people from other households. The number of deaths from other countries is really frightening. What is it that people just do not understand? Maybe they consider themselves as ‘low risk’ so just don’t care? I’ve just had an email from my own child’s school asking if anyone will need to send them in next week. They have made it very clear that this is emergency care when there is absolutely nobody who can look after them at home. They have also clearly said that if a parent is working from home they should not send their children to school.

@Salene but it's not just her and kids health she's risking. It's the school staff and everyone else they will all be in contact with.
Selfish and entitled behaviour!

Salene · 26/03/2020 20:41

Macaroni yes you are correct but some people are very self absorbed they don't consider anyone else but themselves
