Tell me about your day

In as much or little detail as you'd like.

We've had a good day. Sunshine and a bit of exercise, shopping very orderly and reasonably well stocked apart from the pasta and paracetamol.

We've done some baking and played a board game. Both children did some school work and both adults got some work/admin done.

Such a contrast to Monday and Tuesday where I felt really exhausted, stressed and quite incompetent with this whole balancing act going on!

Wine Gin Chocolate and Cake for you all

Spent most of the day outside painting my sons storage unit. It turned out really well and then I rearranged his bedroom. Also hung washing out outside today 😊

happypotamus · 25/03/2020 21:18

I went to work.Worked an early shift, came home on the bus, cooked dinner, got DC ready for bed, sorted out what they are wearing to go to school tomorrow. All very normal things that are very unusual these days.

TreacherousPissFlap · 25/03/2020 21:22

12hr shift so not much else. Got home to find teen DS in an uncharacteristically low mood so have spent an hour chatting and planning "stuff" for him to do.

I've actually read a couple of threads on here where people have mentioned their kids are down and emotional today so perhaps it's a "thing"?

lucysmam · 25/03/2020 21:22

I've been to work (school kitchen), we've been told we're not essential on site any more as we're not catering, there are four kids on site & they've been bringing lunch...all good, thoroughly cleaned down and shut down for the foreseeable between four of us.

Then had to fight through the union for our company to realise we're not key workers (school also contacted them) & agree to use the government scheme to cover our wages while we're not there (once it's set up). Company HR, school business manager, school head teacher, and academy trust HR also involved because company digging heels in about no work = no pay at all for however many months when we can't actually do more than we have done!

Emailed area manager to confirm we'll be paid & got a really shirty email back that x person was tasked with passing info on.

Well, yes, they were. But this person isn't the most reliable so we just wanted confirmation higher up the chain.

Came home to my girls & spent the afternoon doing various things with them. We've chalked on the garden path, done henna tattoos, done some spellings with dd2, discussed powerpoint with dd1 even though I didn't really get what she was doing, cleaned a bit, listened to Dear Evan Hansen while having lunch & washing up. Oh, dd2 did some painting too for a project her teacher has set. And they've both written me a list of colouring sheets they'd like printed.

Nuggets, chips and beans for tea, followed by mothers day chocs for afters then showers all round.

They're upstairs together now playing Minecraft while I have a cup of tea (and more chocolate ) in peace.

Thelnebriati · 25/03/2020 21:53

The washing machine died, so did a load of hand washing, some housework and some gardening. Getting ready to sow some seeds and potatoes.
Ate a random collection of stuff that was near its sell by date Envy

ilovebagpuss · 25/03/2020 22:06

Got up went to work admin in the care sector. Part time so home at 3. My DD’s are at home alone as DH also able to work although close to home. Both DD’s a bit low today although they have baked and walked and done school bits.
Think it’s a combination of being on their own and missing normal routine and friends. It’s hard to know how to cheer them up but we will do our best. I have some time off coming up so we can just nest and get some treats in

Pieceofpurplesky · 25/03/2020 22:38

Marked some work online for those pupils that had done it.

Walked the dog.

Had to go to the supermarket, so went, kept distance and showered once home.

Did some gardening and enjoyed the sunshine.

Ds 16 helped in the garden and we are now watching old Dr Who episodes

Pyjamaface · 25/03/2020 22:48

Not good.

Today was supposed to be our last day of isolation - instead it's 3 more weeks just with a walk.
Period is coming up so the stress came out . I stropped out into the (shaded) garden and sat there til I was freezing and had to slink back into the house. And spend the rest of the day trying not to cry.

DP and DS went out for a walk and talked about video games a lot from what I could hear.

Tomorrow will be better

Bluesheep8 · 26/03/2020 07:22

Yesterday...I am WFH, so got up, had a shower and started work st 8am.
Lunch at 12:30 for half an hour
Worked til 4pm
Went out for a walk for 45 mins
Came home, made dinner, rang my family.
Watched TV til 9pm then bed.

This is what I would normally do on a weekday, apart from my walking would be done at lunchtime and I'd be in the office 8-4. I'm trying to keep things as normal as possible as this has taught me that I'm someone who needs routine! Actually, I might start a "what has all this taught you about yourself?" thread.....

MrsJonesAndMe · 26/03/2020 13:41

Afternoon all, hope you're all having a good day today.

Containers, same as yesterday. Unlike yesterday, I'm not enjoying the Northumbrian coast. Instead I'm sitting in a waste transfer station while they fill me with baled shite, while trying to breathe through my ears.

mbosnz · 26/03/2020 14:54

Finally got up and got dressed, far too late.

Inculcated a bottle run with taking the teenagers on their walkies. Their father can do that tomorrow, I got that close to braining one of them that was playing silly buggers over social distancing, being an utterly self absorbed arrogant little twat, that it wasn't funny.

Planted lettuce plants and tomatoes.

Washed sheets, and put them out on the line to dry.

Had left over maccy cheese for lunch, felt both guilty and grateful to have the pasta.

Self isolated from the teens so that we all survive with no unnecessarily harsh words, holed up in the bedroom with the cat and the lappy.

At 3pm am going to go tackle Mt Crumple, the ironing pile of doom.

But the girls are both doing fantastically at being self motivated and continuing to work hard at their schoolwork, for which I am both proud and grateful.

MrsJonesAndMe · 26/03/2020 16:17

Sounds delightful @DisgraceToTheYChromosome Envy

Oh dear, cling to the positives @mbosnz

We've had some sunshine, cooking, a board game, lots of food - everyone seems constantly hungry!!! and school work.

I too am grateful that my children are coping with the situation and getting on with some work. We are luckier than most that there is some outside space, lots of indoor things to keep us all busy and enough food. Trying not to worry about finances as I think we'll be OK for April but possibly stuffed after that.

Fab day in the garden yesterday sitting on my arse reading after doing my daily exercise routine. DH was repairing some guttering on the conservatory.
Today was cooler so after exercises did some pruning while DH finished guttering. Went for a big circular walk and read the paper (online).

Actually not very different to a normal at home day as we are early retired but we would normally be out and about a lot more shopping, travelling, sightseeing and walking and I would go to Zumba a couple of times a week. I'm going to look online for session I can follow at home.

Gingernaut · 26/03/2020 17:27

Self isolating due to symptoms.

Lovely weather, but can't go out.

Being driven nuts by commercial radio.

I hope 'the little wall crawler' gets Covid-19 and dies a horrible death.

UsernameTaken76 · 26/03/2020 17:35

Today is DH’s birthday so we had it booked as annual leave. So we enjoyed a lie in and then a rationed breakfast of 1/2 avocado, 2x sausages and a fried egg each while opening presents.

DH got to enjoy the first episode of the Mandolorian. Then we had to get some food for my elderly Dad dropped that off then back home to garden and then we sit in deckchairs with an alcoholic beverage wrapped in blankets enjoying the sunshine.

Dinner of steak and chips and more Disney+ tonight.

MummBraTheEverLeaking · 26/03/2020 17:42

Oh I'd love to be watching The Mandolorian, your day sounds lovely... I was doing 4 days a week desk job then a day with DD who's 2 before this started. Now as DH work needs to be done in the daytime I'm doing running after a toddler all day trying to find stuff to do, then logging on for a few manic hours when she's in bed before collapsing into bed myself and repeat.
