What's your food plans?

I've got food in the freezer which would last us for 14 days, and enough food to last us until Friday.

I'm debating whether to go on Friday and get enough to last us through to Weds and leave my freezer stash in case we need to quarantine, or start working through the freezer now.

I’m a bit worried now as we are down to a fairly amount. If we got I’ll we’d be buggered

Firsttimelottie · 24/03/2020 20:00

I've got food that we're saving in case we need to quarantine (I didn't panic buy it btw - it's freezer/cupboard stuff that I've had a few months now!) and I've been heading to the shops each week for fresh items.

I will continue to do this whilst I can.

Yeah, I'm thinking leaving my stash would be the best thing to do.

I was a Brexit prepper ironically.

I’m planning to use the food in the house to enable me to shop ‘as infrequently as possible’ which may lead me to rely on the kindness of neighbours in the case of quarantine, but I think that’s OK.

DoubleAction · 24/03/2020 20:18

I'm aiming to keep the emergency supply for emergencies and replenish with a normal weekly shop unless unable to, which is kind of the point?

YesILikeItToo · 24/03/2020 20:39

I’m thinking this is the emergency?

DoubleAction · 24/03/2020 20:43

For me the emergency is the supply chain really breaking down or me being ill and unable to go out.

YesILikeItToo · 24/03/2020 21:36

Ooof - well the kindness of neighbours won’t help me with the complete failure of the supply chain, no.

Crunchymum · 24/03/2020 21:54

Have a delivery due on Sat (would have been booked for 15 days when and if it arrives!)

That will tide us over but realistically someone needs to go out for fresh stuff once a week. We are a family of 5 (including a toddler in nappies and who can only have Soy milk which is limited)

PrincessHoneysuckle · 24/03/2020 21:57

I'm buying and eating our usual food but not touching the tins and packets. They are the ultra emergency foods.

TwoZeroTwoZero · 24/03/2020 22:04

We have been using some of the frozen stuff along with a few tins that we had in our brexit stash and have been making one-pot meals in the slow cooker because they feed all four of us for 2 days and sometimes with enough left over to freeze. Today I've been out and bought bread because we had 3 slices left. We've been eating simple pasta meals and sandwiches for lunch. I've ordered one of those Morrison's food boxes to be delivered on Monday next week. No idea what will be in it but it will hopefully be something that we can make a meal with.
