VERY princessy first-world question

...so don't shoot me!

I have a shellac pedicure on that needs to come off, and obviously I can't go anywhere to get it done professionally. Is it possible to do it at home? I have standard nail polish remover and some kitchen foil. I could order further things, although I don't know how well deliveries are working at the mo.

Any suggestions?

The supermarkets will have acetone remover. Get it the next time you go out.

Boots carry a gel polish remover so you might be able to order that online. I've also just peeled mine off before now, but my friend who does my nails is always horrified by how easily I remove them, I apparently have very hydrated nails! Otherwise, as suggested, file the top off and soak in normal remover. It might take a while.

I let my toe shellac grow out before now. You can paint normal nail varnish over and remove that, and in a couple of months the shellac will have grown out with your nails. You can't really tell if you use a dark colour.

Any other way you will damage your nails 🤷🏻‍♀️

If you go on Instagram and look for Nadine Baggot she has a video detailing what to do. She took her gel nails off at the weekend.

I have a full set of tape hair extensions in my head that need removing Blush

OP

You don’t need to file off the top.

Just soak then in the tin foil wrap and they’ll come off.

Thanks again everyone! Apart from you, Betty; did you really need (!) to come on just to say that?

Yeah, I think it’s important at the moment to distinguish the difference between things we need to do, y’know like eat and live, and things we’d like to do, like remove nail polish.

IntermittentParps · 24/03/2020 12:12

Betty, did you fail to comprehend the title of my thread? I made very clear that I know it's, in the context, a somewhat trivial question. Nonetheless, it's quite possible to be worried simultaneously about nail polish, and about elderly frail parents/one's partner's sudden total loss of income and career/one's own precarious freelance existence/one's mental health; I can personally attest to all of those and more.

I think you’ve misunderstood the meaning of the word “need”

Of all the things you could have chosen to be, you chose to patronising; why do that?

If you really want to break it all down, all we need is fuel, warmth, shelter and sleep. But what about our wellbeing and feeling good in difficult times? What about online chat where people are kind and helpful? I don’t suppose we need that to live, but it sure as hell makes things a little more enjoyable.

Thank you, WarmSausageTea.

No worries, Intermittent, I think it needed saying.
