Has there been a change to isolation guidelines for those with symptoms?

Someone told Me it's 14 days for everyone but I can't see any update on the gov U.K. site and didn't hear Boris mention that yesterday

7 days for those with symptoms, 14 for the rest of the household as that's the incubation period. Of course if you were still unwell after 7 days you wouldn't come out of isolation

Thanks - no change then

This diagram explains it quite well.

I think that the above diagram is unhelpful as child 2 could easily catch corvid 17 off the dad and then spread it once he is released from quarantine.

I wish that they said X days after the last person showed symptoms in a household instead.

CodenameVillanelle · 24/03/2020 11:04

But dad must have caught it from mum or child 1, so if child 2 hasn't caught it by the time 14 days have passed, doesn't that mean child 2 is very unlikely to have it or has caught it without symptoms?

Thanks all - I understood the guidance but somebody told me it had changed and I wasn't sure if I missed something

No there is no change. The wording is clear.

I'm on 7 days self isolation due to a fever.

When I rang work and said all being well see you next week I was told 14 days. (Not by boss but by admin on phones).

I double checked and did the nhs 111 certificate which also is only for 7 days.

I'm a keyworker so whilst I'm much happier at home and safe I also didn't want to be off longer than needed because I realise my part to play.

Thanks, I agree, I am also a key-worker (social care)
My son however will have 7 more days so I won't be going very far!
