"Am I allowed to...."

I know theres a lot of "am I allowed to..." type queries going on but ...Am I allowed to take parcels to the P.O? I am an ebay reseller and have some parcels to send for items that have been paid for. Should I just take those (if PO open even) and then shut my shop or just refund buyers. Stay safe. Be Kind.

I don’t think you should do it, assuming the item isn’t essential to the buyer’s wellbeing.

I’m not an eBay seller, but if I’d bought something in the last day or two, I’d be fine with either delayed delivery or a refund.

I don't think the OP is asking if she should.

She's asking if she can.

I believe the answer is yes.

Postal services are still running, so I think it’s OK to use them.

But I’d suspend further selling, so once this lot has been dispatched, that’s it. Resume when restrictions eased

I was due to post out today but emailed all of my buyers and refunded - I told them I would re offer the items at the same price once things are better. Everyone was understanding and sent lovely emails back (so far). I just had no other reason to go out so felt it was non essential.

PaulinePetrovaPosey · 24/03/2020 09:18

I assume they're not essential items?

So no. You can only go out for work (which this kinda is) if it is absolutely essential.

wanderings · 24/03/2020 09:18

Remember that for small items, you can print postage at home, and use an ordinary post box. In some places, there are those bigger post boxes (the sort which used to take franked mail only).

NuffSaidSam · 24/03/2020 09:20

It's not 'am I allowed' you should be asking really, it's:

'can I do this without coming into contact with any other human (who I don't live with)?'

And then

'is it essential?'

You can't go to the post office without seeing other people and it's not essential, so don't do it. Even if you are technically allowed to do it, use you common sense, do the right thing.

fairplay · 24/03/2020 09:36

You can. Online retail is allowed to continue and you are allowed to post this through the post office. More info in this document...

Maybe so, but just because we’re allowed to do something doesn’t mean we should.

Anyway, I’ve no doubt people will carry on doing what they’re allowed to do rather than what they should do, so on that basis, I’m out of this thread.

Froq · 24/03/2020 09:52

This constant stream of ‘am I allowed’ is going to be worse than the actual lockdown.

By the end of this week the government will have become so fed up with having to clarify everything that they’d be better off saying ‘fuck it. Do what you want’.

humblesims · 24/03/2020 09:53

Okay. Thanks for the advice. I am all about following the guidelines so I have take Redda advice and refunded the buyers so I wont be going out. Have to say all the buyers understood so thats good. Everything seems really clear cut ...until you arent quite sure...!
