Supermarket online shopping

Has anyone been able to book anything this week? I have tried to book click and collect shops with a number of stores and have been checking at different times including the middle of the night when I assume the next day is released but have not been able to find a slot! Also my parents (in their 70s) were told they were not eligible for delivery as they were not in the vulnerable people category so have resigned themselves to visiting stores instead!!! Just wondered if anyone is actually getting any shopping slots or if the supermarkets aren't actually releasing them.

I managed to get one for a couple of day’s time this evening. I think someone must have cancelled/given up their slot as it definitely wasn’t available when I looked at the weekend; nothing was right through the middle of April.

I think you just need to keep checking for cancellations 🤷‍♀️

ProfessorRapson · 24/03/2020 02:20

Hi Indigo,

Like many, I'm unable to find delivery slots. Somebody here linked to Morrisons who will be delivering food boxes via DPD, we're getting PIL to do this:

www.morrisons.com/food-boxes/box/Meat-Food-Box

Hope this helps Smile

Bloodybridget · 24/03/2020 02:24

DP has been trying to get us a delivery for days, without success. I thought there was meant to be some priority for older or more vulnerable people, but we can't find any way to register this. She is v anxious about infection so we have just agreed we will stop going into shops, but this leaves us entirely dependent on the kindness of neighbours, which really isn't manageable for long. We're in inner London, there aren't farm shops that will deliver!

MarieVanGoethem · 24/03/2020 02:29

About half five yesterday morning I managed to get an ASDA delivery booked for 13/04 - am in inner (SE) London & nothing at all available with Ocado, Sainsbury’s or Tesco (didn’t check Morrison’s once I got the ASDA slot). Unimpressed with Sainsbury’s apparent belief they can psychically divine who their disabled customers are, too... 🤨

Was confirmed this morning I’m not to go out at all for the next 12 weeks so really REALLY relieved I managed it.

Bloodybridget · 24/03/2020 02:32

@ProfessorRapson I just looked at your link, thanks for that, it could be useful! We get a regular meat delivery so don't actually need that, it's bread, milk, veg that's the problem, but it's a good idea from Morrisons. I just saw they do a vegetarian box as well.
.

ProfessorRapson · 24/03/2020 02:45

I really hope more supermarkets will replicate the Morrisons boxes, it seems to be a sensible solution, especially for the elderly and/or vulnerable.

BooseysMom · 24/03/2020 04:17

Managed at last to get Asda slot after Ocado crashed and now this has crashed. I just get the circle going round and round. Anyone else got this with Asda?

RosieSunset · 24/03/2020 04:43

I had it earlier on @BooseysMom but it started working again a wee while ago.

Willow4987 · 24/03/2020 04:53

I’ve literally just been able to get a Morrison’s slot for the 14th. They’re getting booked immediately in my area on the day they are released. When I checked yesterday at about 8am for the 13th they were all gone.

Luckily I’m up feeding a newborn and finally remembered to check

BooseysMom · 24/03/2020 05:24

@RosieSunset.. mine came back on but now won't let me check out as it says the town/ city not valid! I've checked account settings and it's nothing in there so must be a glitch in their system just spent since 3am trying to do this! Slot only held for another hour and they don't open til 8am. Been trying since 3am to do this Angry

BooseysMom · 24/03/2020 05:35

So pissed off with Asda. Put the same sentence twice in my previous post! Deleted my card and address then re-inputted but still has the same stupid error msg. Now i'll lose my slot. Thanks Asda

TabbyStar · 24/03/2020 05:38

Asda wasn't recognising my password the other day though it was definitely right, it worked again a few hours later.

BooseysMom · 24/03/2020 05:49

It's so annoying and i'm knackered from not sleeping Sad

KatherineJaneway · 24/03/2020 05:49

I haven't been able to book an online slot recently with any if the 3 supermarkets I regularly shop online with (Waitrose, Ocado, Tesco). I have two deliveries booked and they have been for many weeks but what will arrive in them is another thing. I expect to have to physically shop after that.

Stopyourhavering64 · 24/03/2020 06:07

I've been shopping weekly online (Waitrose) for over 2 years since diagnosed with autoimmune disease and I'm unable to walk far/ carry shopping.
Managed to book 3 online shops when knew situation was deteriorating
I'm classed in vulnerable group due to my illness and reduced immunity and will now be in lockdown for 12 weeks...no going outside garden for me
I live with dh who will probably now have to go to shops...is anyone in same situation re vulnerable group ...I'd rather he didn't have to go out and possibly reintroduce virus as he's meant to be shielding me!
...tried phoning customer services but just automated message- is there ano way to alert them I'm in vulnerable group?

joystir59 · 24/03/2020 06:12

I'm in the same situation, shielding my very vulnerable partner for 12 weeks but having to still go to work (cleaning the still open town hall) and going to the shops (no online slots and many items anyway not available)

Impatientwino · 24/03/2020 06:50

Sainsbury's app is showing all day availability for tomorrow in my area (herts) Absolutely nothing else available for any other day and all slots are open tomorrow are so obviously just opened it up.

Just in case anyone wants to check their area on the off chance...

IndigoSkye · 24/03/2020 09:47

Thanks all, glad it's not just me that is getting frustrated! It's a difficult time and I get really worried about it all when I can't sleep in the middle of the night!! Just keep trying I guess!!

Also thanks @ProfessorRapson for the Morrison's link, will check it out Smile

@Stopyourhavering64

If you’re in England & in the very high risk group you can register for additional support inc help getting food & medication - let me know if you need the link for it & I’ll try to find it, though you might’ve done it by now anyway.

MarieVanGoethem · 25/03/2020 05:08

@Impatientwino
You might want to check your email to make certain you’ve not mistakenly been identified by Sainsbury’s as a vulnerable person. Because - and I’m sure you’ll all be shocked by this - it turns out that Sainsbury’s could not, in fact, magically tell which of their customers are disabled. They’ve not even managed to correctly identify the elderly ones. So not only are loads of disabled people left STILL trying to contact them to make arrangements (can only do this by phone, because Access Requirements are not something to consider here, obviously) but they’ve also just opened up slots to a load of young & healthy people. Some of whom will have quietly ignored; some will be using it to shop for someone vulnerable; some are [publicly] trying to get themselves taken off the list; but you absolutely know some utter arses will be using them in full knowledge it’s not meant for them Angry

Not at all saying I’m sure that’s what happened with/for you, Impatient, but with current EPIC mess Sainsbury’s have made it might be why the day was suddenly open; and (hopefully!) obviously I don’t think you’re sort of person who’d go abusing Sainsbury’s - for want of a better word - “system”.

Stopyourhavering64 · 25/03/2020 06:54

MarieVanGoethem I did have a look on Gov.co.uk website , sadly I live in rural Wales ( well actually it's not too bad as at least I'm pretty well 'shielded'j and there is no such register .
I've tweeted Waitrose via direct message , where I've had success in getting through to them in the past ( tried phoning customer services and just a pre recorded message and no e mail service ) . I do have freezer so at least I do have food, but it's perishable things like milk, eggs, fresh produce, store cupboard essentials that I'll be needing in the coming weeks if it carries on for longer than 12 weeks- which I think is highly possible Sad

Impatientwino · 25/03/2020 08:22

Marie I think it's because I'm a delivery pass customer. I pay in 6 months increments for unlimited delivery. I can now see slots for tomorrow and Friday but nothing else.

My dad who is over 70 and has a Sainsbury's account hasn't heard from them and can't see any slots so I've booked one for him via my delivery pass and I'll take to him from here.

I've just signed up as a NHS volunteer so think I'll be in the supermarket a fair bit anyway!

Alakazam8 · 25/03/2020 08:49

Sainsbury’s couldn’t even tell which of their customers were disabled and vulnerable if they were told.
I am disgusted with them- although acknowledge they are ‘working to resolve this’ but I phoned them on Sunday and after holding on for 45mins spoke to someone who said they would note my disability (which I’m happy to prove) so that I could get a delivery slot. According to their website and app I am not registered as disabled so can’t get slots. I’m only registered online with Sainsbury’s .Now having to ask for volunteer support! Can’t contact Sainsbury’s and reading that people are using emails they’ve been sent in error makes my blood boil- although under the circumstances would probably do the same.

WhatHaveIFound · 25/03/2020 08:55

Impatientwino & other Sainsbury's customers My parents had a call from them yesterday recognising that they were in the at risk group and apologising for lack of delivery slots. They're going to let them know as they become available. I assume they have their ages from the Nectar Card scheme.

In the meantime my parents are relying on their neighbours to get shopping for them though i would be able to deliver food to them if needed (i live an hour away).

wineymummy · 25/03/2020 09:13

We signed up with Asda a few weeks ago, just before it became impossible to book a delivery. We had already decided to switch to online because I'm third trimester pregnant and was struggling with shopping and a toddler. Luckily I signed up for a delivery pass and it lets me reserve a weekly spot. Last week's order got cancelled on the day due to no drivers so hoping today's turns up. We've decided to try to do a fortnight's shop each time so we can cancel every other and this will become available for someone else, so keep checking as I assume a lot of people are in the same boat. We do feel a bit guilty as not entirely in the vulnerable category but now 2 of us are under the weather going out isn't advised anyway, and the more pregnant I am, the more we need to self isolate to protect midwives/hospital staff as due date approaches. The Asda app is also really glitchy, same with the browser, but I can usually add things to my basket and if one won't work, check out on the other. We've also contacted our immediate neighbours to see if they want to add stuff to our shop.
