I have a skipping rope. I managed 30 seconds this morning before my rhythm went to complete shit. I kept it up for 5 more minutes then felt like I was going to die. I'm sure all the neighbours who can see into my back garden were thoroughly entertained. But I think that will do for the high-intensity, get-your-heart-pumping kind of stuff.

What would you recommend for the low-intensity toning, stretching, strength stuff? I've had a go at some pilates and yoga videos but I don't really want the "mindfulness" bit that comes with it; I just want the exercise. One instructor spent the first 10 minutes just breathing, then said, "approach this exercise with integrity" and I genuinely haven't a clue what the fuck that means. So I guess her videos are not for me!

What's the best you've come across, that could be done daily for 30mins max, with no equipment other than what's in the living room and none of the ethereal stuff please?

on youtube has workouts for beginners, you will need to persevere for the first few days with the same workout as it is tough at first

I second Fitness blender. It’s free, they have literally thousands of workouts and you can filter by type of workout, duration, intensity, low impact. Loads of equipment free workouts too

Fitness blender is really good. I'm going to start doing that again.

If you are a real beginner Lesley Sansome has some great walking exercises to get you back into cardio fitness which is so important right now.

I've also discovered Joanna Soh and Sarah Beth yoga which are both really good.

I've just had a look at fitnessblender and it does look good, thank you

I used to be a pretty good gymnast but that feels like a lifetime ago now 😂
