You will need anti D injection before you give birth I think if I remember rightly, nothing to be worried about.

Not sure if link works, if you Google Rhesus disease NHS I think that explains it.

I am o positive so I dont think it can be rhesus disease. From reading I think that only occurs when the mother has negative blood. It was my booking appointment with the midwife at around 8 weeks pregnant with my 1st.

I am O+ but for my second and third pregnancy they discovered that I had an abnormal antibody in my blood. Anti factor? S (it was definately anti something S).

For those pregnancies they were meant to test the cord blood straight after birth to check to see of the baby required any further treatment. They forgot on DC2, I reminded them after about 15 minutes but it was too late. She had to have 3 months of regular blood tests to check she was ok and was treated for jaundice just in case (she didn't have any jaundice symptoms it was a couldn't hurt / might help situation) She was fine and discharged from the children's outpatients after those three months.

For DC3, test her cord blood was the first thing out of my mouth after I gave birth and she was fine no further treatment needed.

If I ever need blood again, I needed a blood transfusion after DC1 before they discovered the abnormal antibody, the blood would need to be biked in from a central bloodbanks I can no longer have straight O+ blood.

It didn't really make a difference to my pregnancies, I am already high risk and was under consulant care and didn't have more appointments for DC2 and DC3 than I had for DC1.

There are lots of different antibodies, some are more worrying than others so talk to your midwife or consultant about the specific ones you have. You will get bloods checked more frequently than usual and they might want to check your partners blood too. Please try not to worry, it's more than likely that all will be well.

I had anti-E, which there's no injection for unlike anti-D. They checked my blood very regularly and I had to be extra careful, as far as I remember the problems may have arisen if my blood came into contact with baby's blood (so perhaps if I was injured in some way?). They were concerned about me going to full term so I was induced a couple of weeks early. This was my second and third pregnancies and everything turned out fine, I have healthy teenagers now.
Try not to worry OP.
