Thorn infection tracking up my arm...can I leave it til tomorrow?

Was gardening yesterday and a rose bush bit back. Woke in the night with a sore, swollen knuckle. Its achey now rather than painful but I can see it's begun tracking up my arm. Do I need to call out of hours doc or will it be ok to leave it for GP to deal with in the morning?? With so much going on I don't want to make a fuss.

Yes do not trouble 111 for this as you will need to see a doctor and get antibiotics

cushioncovers · 22/03/2020 13:20

Don't wait op get it seen, as others have said it can turn to sepsis if left.

BillyAndTheSillies · 22/03/2020 13:24

Please go and get it checked out. Same thing happened to my dad about 15 years ago and it was sepsis. He was in hospital for weeks because he left it overnight until he'd basically starting going in and out of consciousness before he told us he'd not been feeling well and noticed there was a spread.

I had a blister that ended up with 4 days in hospital and an IV drip. Took me weeks to recover but pleased I saw a doctor pretty quickly.

Make a fuss, please.

ZarkingBell · 22/03/2020 13:35

Are you at minor injuries yet?

FrankieManca · 22/03/2020 13:38

Better to get Antibiotics now in out-of-hours than need a hospital bed for sepsis later.

WAMS · 22/03/2020 16:07

Just got back from MIU with a large box of anti-biotics. Glad you lot prompted me to go...I would have spent the day dithering and fretting about wasting NHS time and then ended up having to go at midnight or something daft!

Reginabambina · 22/03/2020 16:16

Good, very glad you’ve had it sorted. If the antibiotics don’t work for sone reason please call 999.

Mrsjayy · 22/03/2020 16:19

Thats great you got it seen too you can crack on with your antibiotics. Somebody on a group I'm in was dithering about something similar but her foot she has gone to the emergency room for antibiotics,

Starbuck8419 · 22/03/2020 16:20

I think it’s really nice you even took the time to consider you might be wasting their resources but I’d say if symptoms of anything get worse, it’s worth getting checked out. I think they would rather than!

AlCalavicci · 22/03/2020 16:42

I am glad you went , hopeful the medicine will kick in soon then you can go back to your garden and ( carefully ) give them roses what for !

cushioncovers · 22/03/2020 18:08
