Good for John Lewis and Waitrose!

Bravo, I say! More stores should follow their lead:

John Lewis is anticipating the feelings of loneliness and isolation customers may start to feel at home by exploring ways to offer its expert Partner-led services remotely. These could include nursery advice for expectant parents; wellbeing advice; craft and cookery classes provided by expert Partners online, or one-to-one calls.

We also care deeply about the wellbeing of our people. Our Partners are working long hours to meet your needs. And so today we launch a hardship fund to support those impacted by the pandemic.

They really are a class act

Great company.

Good stuff. People will remember who stepped up and who screwed everyone over.

They've sent staff from our JL to Waitrose to operate the tills so that the Waitrose staff that know the store layout can get shelves restocked asap. Really good use of resources imo.

Yes, they really are doing a great job!

The Waitrose staff where my dad shops are amazing at the best of times (they let him pay at customer services so he doesn't feel pressured by other people, before he used a mobility scooter the parking bloke would radio inside for someone to bring a wheelchair out and then push him round), but are really stepping it up and looking after him and trying to help him find alternatives as he is trying to find things my mum who has severe dementia will eat

NanTheWiser · 20/03/2020 11:50

I went to my local Waitrose this morning at 8.30, as they are now prioritising the first hour for the over 70s (me!). There was a long queue of younger shoppers, and just a few of us oldies. They were restricting how many customers entered the shop at one time to allow social distancing.
I was able to pick up a few necessities including eggs, which are in short supply everywhere. Most other shelves were a bit sparse, and I think that's going to continue for a considerable time, but I am pleased to be well stocked up for now, and very pleased with their approach to this crisis, shame that other supermarkets are not quite as well organised.

surely John Lewis stores should close - not sure it's responsible if they stay open as only sell non essentials. Waitrose fair play.

Undercoverworker06 · 20/03/2020 13:18

We have had a lot of John Lewis partners helping out at our store where I work, so big thanks to them. We truly appreciate it, thank you.

HarrietTheShy · 20/03/2020 13:19

I try to buy from JL as much as possible. So glad to see this.

ShesGotBetteDavisEyes · 20/03/2020 13:21

Apart from no eggs, paracetamol and toilet roll my Waitrose has been really well stocked so far. The staff are as lovely as ever and although it is busier than usual, no one is panicking or frantic or acting like shits.

I feel very lucky to have one down the road. I’ve not dared step foot in a Lidl/Asda/Tesco.
