“Unsecured network” - what does it mean?

So normally use home our work Wi-fi. But other times, will log into free Wi-fi which sometimes describes itself as ‘unsecured’.

What does that mean? Does that mean anyone can ‘see’ what I’m doing? or just that it’s less secure than my work our home Wi-fi?

It is unsecured because its free for anyone to use, if someone wanted to they could easily do dodgy stuff on the network and there is nothing you can do or the company be held liable, because you have joined an unsecured network.

Basically if you are doing important work, never join an unsecured network or if you do make sure you go through a vpn (although that is not advised in some circumstances)

It means hackers can more easily access your machine and what you are doing on it. they could access key strokes for example when your logging into stuff, then get back in later. It's not password protected.
