With a job in catering still clinging on but hours cut drastically, would you be sending him to join the war effort in the supermarkets?

I'll be working in school, so no chance of a proper isolation/distancing for us anyway. No health issues in the house, but elderly parents who rely on us just round the corner.

He doesn't need the money as such, good lad has saved 3 months pay and has no expenses to speak of. I'm thinking from a doing your bit perspective.

No - supermarkets should pay temp workers, many are losing their jobs. This could be a lifeline for many. Helping the vulnerable would be better / perhaps doing some shopping for elderly neighbours?

My DD works 10 hours a week in a supermarket, I’ve asked her to go and get some overtime. She can then use the money to fund university.

I dont think he'd be stealing a job from anyone who needs it more celtiethree, at our local supermarket they're desperate. It seems if you turn up with your passport you're in.

I agree you'd think they'd have a queue of people from the hospitality industry but it doesn't seem to have happened yet.

Yes, if no one in the family is high risk.
It would be good experience for him to have on his cv and I cannot see catering jobs doing well in the short term at least.
