Silly question about frozen meat

Hi, sorry if this is a silly question, but we don't have a big freezer and don't usually buy frozen meat.

About a year ago, in preparation for a possible no deal Brexit, I bought a bag of frozen chicken thighs and a bag of frozen mince. I've not touched them since putting them in my freezer.

My question is, will the chicken and beef mince be OK to use after a year?

Also, there is a small amount of ice in the bag of chicken - is this normal, or does it mean there is something up?

Please be gentle, I feel really silly asking this, and I'm feeling like crap, suspected CV symptoms and self isolating at the mo.

If it's a proper, -18 or below freezer, then it'll be fine.

It will be fine, the quality might deteriorate slightly over time but it will be safe to eat for years yet. No, the ice is nothing to worry about.

Ice in the bag could mean freezer burn, which may impair flavour but is not harmful.

I'd cook them in a tasty sauce to hide any potential freezer burn. They are fine to eat though.

We had freezer burn chicken thighs tonight in a fried rice with Chinese curry sauce - delicious

Thanks everyone, I really appreciate it.

Absolutely fine, as others have said.

And if you want to stretch your food further, once you have cooked it you can freeze it again, so you could freeze a portion of whatever you end up making with it.
