Very Part-Time Hours

Does anyone work very limited hours - around 10-12 hours per week?

If so, what work do you do?

Yes, I work part time 12 hours behind the counter in a community pharmacy. Lovely little job. But also took early retirement from my former "career" so with pension and very part time earnings I can afford to live.

Yes, I can afford to live. I'm guessing cleaning jobs would fit into this category? Anything else?

I work between 12 and 36 hours as a hca for an agency (so auxiliary staff and rarely in the same place twice)

6 hours a week, lunchtime supervisor in a primary school. Pay isn't brilliant but I love it.

15hrs a week, admin for the NHS.

Chasingsquirrels · 18/03/2020 21:13

What have you done previously?

I'm an accountant and couldn't do my current job in practice on 10-12 hours - currently work 24 over 4 days, but I could fulfil a need for small businesses which needed someone for a day a week / month / quarter.

10 hours a week admin for churches.
10-20 hours a week parish clerk- but you need training, and occasional evenings.

12hrs per week in a supermarket - 3 x 4 hour shifts.

Much retail offers shifts as low as 6 or 8 hours.

In the interview or application they will always add - ‘but we will expect you to work extra hours as and when required’.

This is so they can only pay 6 or 8 hours holiday pay, but you can be available to cover extra Christmas hours, and all staff sickness shortages.

The retail site I work on, almost without fail apart from the very big employers, all the shop units have these sort of shifts.
