When to jack in potty training for a bit?

DS has just turned 3. We've gone cold turkey on nappies since Saturday. Since then he has managed every poo in the potty, and pretty much none of his wees. Maybe 2 or 3 times he managed, and one other time he tried but didn't make it. He also Will Not sit on the potty if asked. I'm trying to stay chill but DH is less patient, and is convinced our house will stink of wee (we have hard laminate floors, fwiw). As this is Day 5 with no obvious sign of improvement, how much longer would you give?

Can he be bribed, and what's his price? DS I mean, not your DH.

Also, some boys love weeing in the garden - have you tried that?

No, we've gone down the stickers and chocolate buttons route but it makes no difference at all.

I think it's just a case of keeping on until you find an incentive that really excites him. Mine refused to poo in the loo or potty - First poo reward was a giant Fireman Sam doll he'd been wanting for ages, and every poo after that got a mini Hero sweet (his favorite and something we only ever bought infrequently. I think he loved choosing one more than eating them).

We stopped because daughter was either weeing on the floor or holding it in. We probably persevered for about 10 days.
A month or so later she just chose herself not to wear nappiess and now just asks for one when she needs a poo!

I didn't try very long with DD. She hates the potty and refused to use it. She would hold in her wees (she must have an extraordinarily big bladder), and if she needed a poo she would go to where we kept pull ups for bedtime use, and put one of those on. She kicked and screamed if I tried to put her on the potty or the toilet. So I just stopped. A few months later she did it all by herself, using the toilet not the potty. She was a little bit behind her peers but she got there, there were no accidents and none of the stress.
