What’s with pasta?

Ok so slightly goady, I understand it will last years. But why the love for pastas It’s rubbish. it’s just low nutrient flour and maybe a bit of egg. Needs sauce which requires effort to make it into a meal. Or cheese which is edible in its right anyway or bread ( no cooking)

Potatoes on the other hand are a fantastic healthy vegetable that just need oil to produce crisp, chips, fries, roasties. Great with something or as a snack .With mash or jacket as a bonus.

Or rice . Delicious grass with vitamins and minerals. Risotto with a bit of flavoured water ( stock) and you get twice as much as measured out.

What’s with pasta please? I have a bag of weird expensive multi coloured stuff,

The only reason I have no idea why people are stockpiling it is because every shop is stripped bare of it but still has tinned tomatoes/passatta/pasta sauce/pesto. Are people just eating bare pasta?

I love pasta. I mean really love it. It's so versatile and with hungry teenagers, guaranteed to fill them up. You can eat it hot or cold and it's a quick to make dinner.
I imagine it's sold out because it's popular and has a long shelf life.
I also don't buy sauce jars as I make my own.

I bloody love pasta. I would eat it every night if I wasn’t married. And since I am in fact not married, but separated I’ve been asking myself serious questions about whether there are reasons I can’t be doing that in the future. Do they literally eat it every day in Italy?

I love pasta but I've not bought any from the shop. I love the convenience of shop bought pasta but it literally takes 10 minutes to make at home.

But also OP I'm not sure what you mean by it takes so much more effort to make the sauce. You just dump tomatoes, herbs and if you want, balsamic vinegar in a pan and simmer for a bit.

As for why people are panic buying the least nutritious food, I have no idea.

It's one of the few things fussy kids will usually eat.

I’m confused as well. The stocks of pasta sauce are getting lower where we live but not at the same right. Who likes pasta with no sauce or topping Confused

I heard that China produce a lot of loo roll, hence the panic buying, maybe because Italy produce lots of pasta? I decided to low carb before I knew about the virus, that’s gone out the window now and I have bought pasta, oven chips and bread flour. Maybe it’s partly a comfort food thing in these strange times.

I love pasta, eat it several times a week. Its easier to store and cook than potatoes, cheaper and lasts longer in the cupboard.

Our supermarkets have no pesto, tomato purée, tinned tomatoes, passatta etc.

feelinguseless101 · 18/03/2020 00:28

AnotherDingle where are you? I cannot find tinned tomatoes or passata anywhere!

I love pasta. I don't like potatoes, or bread, or rice!
