Anyone experienced a toddler being sick regularly for months?

I will call the GP again tomorrow but they just put it down to back to back viruses but I'm less and less convinced by this.

Ds is nearly 15 months and has been having vomiting episodes 1-2 times a week for the last couple of months.

He will be really happy and perky, then suddenly go very pale, have about 45 minutes of puking, then go very sleepy. Then will just suddenly perk up, get colour in his cheeks and carry on like nothing's happened.

He's also been getting a temperate on a daily basis for the least month or two as well.
It will go as high as 39 and just go up and down in the day and night. This doesn't coincide with the vomiting in that he doesn't get hot before during or after a vomiting session.

I've kept a really close eye on his diet and there's no triggers.

Today for example he's refused all food because he's been breast feeding all day and he's still been sick.

He will often shower me in vomit at 3am. I will look back and what the childminder fed him that day there's never a pattern.

Any wisdom?

I don't think it's too much milk either because I don't make much since he's started the CM full time.

Plus he used to be on milk only and he didn't puke like this.

Could it be something in his food? Not necessarily the same foods but perhaps an ingredient in common?

I've got another son who has multiple allergies so unfortunately quite experienced in trigger foods and hidden foods.

There's nothing.

Plus as I said, today he hasn't eaten anything and was still sick.

Mine has had a virus for weeks. Was occasionally throwing up, fever of 39 for two weeks straight. I was repeatedly told it was viral. Then, because of all the phlegm/snot etc it built up and perforated his ear drum and he got an ear infection. As soon as he got antibiotics he recovered straight away.
Have they been looking in his ears/throat?

DontBiteTheBoobThatFeedsYou · 15/03/2020 15:58

He's had two bouts of tonsillitis and an ear infection, that was 6 weeks ago, he's had constant temperatures since.

It's like he hasn't quite got over them.

He's had his ears and throat checked since and they are clear.

Similar here, my DS 22 months seems to have had back to back viruses since Christmas, all with high fever and vomiting episodes. 2nd time it went into his ears and he did get antibiotics which helped. He’s just recovering from the latest bout.

Sorry I don’t have any advice but I feel for you. Have you got much response from GP in general? Do calpol/ibuprofen control the fevers? I couldn’t see any pattern in DS’s vomiting episodes in relation to either fevers or food intake, so I’ve put it down to how he deals with viruses currently.

DontBiteTheBoobThatFeedsYou · 15/03/2020 16:51

No they don't always control it.

Thanks for posting it makes me feel like it could be normal.

He had a temp of 39.9 1.5 hours ago and calpol hasn't touched it.

There is a thing called cyclical vomiting syndrome, I wonder if it could be that?

DontBiteTheBoobThatFeedsYou · 15/03/2020 17:03

My friend mentioned that. The only thing that doesn't fit is the temperatures but perhaps they are two different issues

Are you giving ibruprofen as well as paracetamol to control the fever? I wouldn't make a habit of it, but if it's still 39 after an hour and a half I would give it a go. I'd be more concerned about the prolonged fever than the vomiting tbh

DontBiteTheBoobThatFeedsYou · 15/03/2020 18:51

That's what worries me most as well.

Yes I give both, neither have that much effects

They used to, for illnesses that occurred before this.

But the last few weeks they are doing bugger all. The only thing that reduces it slightly (but still a fever) is stripping him down.

My friends little girl had migraines in her stomach, I know that sounds wrong but she was being sick all the time. Maybe you can google it and see if that fits for your little one.
