Do you need to precook fresh lasagne sheets?

I've never used them before and I'm thinking it's gonna make the lasagne sloppy if I pre boil the sheets. I'm cooking right now so would appreciate if someone can help me soon! Thank you!

you're welcome Grin

ShirleyPhallus · 12/03/2020 13:55

No, and don’t precook dried lasagne sheets either, just add an extra half can of water to the sauce

frenchchips · 12/03/2020 14:01

You don't need to pre cook the dried ones!

notapizzaeater · 12/03/2020 14:12

No I just add some more liquid and stand for a while

OldSpeclkledHen · 12/03/2020 14:17

If they are fresh, I normally just pop them in a tray and pour boiling water on them for a couple of minutes.

FlatShoos · 12/03/2020 14:29

Oh shit. I've just read that some of you pour some boiling water on them! I've made it all now!

ItsJustTheOneSwanActually · 12/03/2020 14:30

i've never done anything to fresh lasagne and it's always worked fine.

dementedpixie · 12/03/2020 14:31

We've never pre cooked or poured boiling water over the fresh lasagne sheets. The sauce will keep the sheets soft/cook them

Wheresthebiffer2 · 12/03/2020 14:32

mmmmmmmm freshly made lasagne. where do you live?

Baaaahhhhh · 12/03/2020 14:34

I haven't ever pre-cooked dried or fresh. I just make sure my sauce has a lot of liquid (wine) in it Wink.

user1480880826 · 12/03/2020 14:43

You seriously couldn’t have just googled that? It would have been infinitely quicker.

alittlequinnie · 12/03/2020 14:47

I don't pre-cook mine or soak them in water or anything BUT I make sure I seal the lasagna - so no gaps where the air can get in - get that top layer of cheese sauce all the way to the edges or you might end up with some crispy corners on the top layer!

H1978 · 12/03/2020 14:51

No, just make sure there is enough sauce between the layers because that will help to cook them and keep them soft

NutFree · 12/03/2020 14:56

Okay. It's all done now. And im picking the kids up from school now. I have only ever made lasagne once in my life a million years ago and I think it was too sloppy!

I'll let you know after school how it turns out!

Were there no instructions on the packet?

heath48 · 12/03/2020 16:21

I buy my lasagne from Sainsbury’s it tells you to pour boiling water over and leave for a couple of minutes before layering up.

Interested to hear how yours turns out, sure it will be delicious.

billy1966 · 12/03/2020 16:31

If you think it may end up a little dry through lack of liquid, making little holes with a knife across the lasagne and pouring a few drops of boiled water in them will give the pasta the extra moisture.

CorianderLord · 12/03/2020 16:46

No. You don't even need to pre cook dried ones of you make lasagne right

CorianderLord · 12/03/2020 16:47

Also have never let it stand, poured water on them or anything else. Make sure your lasagne has enough liquid, 45mins in the oven and it's fine

QueenArseClangers · 12/03/2020 16:52

I’ve never even precooked dry lasagne sheets! Surely one makes it with enough sauce to cook in the oven? Confused

NutFree · 12/03/2020 17:41

Thanks everyone. I can confirm it was absolutely fine for anyone else in the same situation as me!

heath48 yes I bought mine from sainsburys, the fresh ones.
