What is current advice

My dd 15, was sent home from school today, cough, flu like symptoms, high temperature. As far as i know no cases of corona in school apart from one girl in quarantine.
I would normally say its a cold, fluey bug but everyone is saying i should get her checked. I work as a hca so i am not panicking like the rest of my family. They havr also been saying to me i shouldn't go to work as i am with vulnerable people, i have just had 12days off annual leave.
Any words of advice on what i should do.

Phone 111!!

PurpleDaisies · 11/03/2020 21:07

Is the girl in quarantine a confirmed coronavirus case?

You need to phone 111 for advice.

pinkkoala · 11/03/2020 21:13

No she had been to italy for holidays and now in isolation as per advice.

Just phone 111 seriously, that’s the current advice. No one here can advise you

Sunshine1239 · 11/03/2020 21:16

Nhs111 will tell you it’s fine

Almost 30 000 have been tested presumably as they’ve got symptoms
Only 450+ are positive

There’s loads of bugs around!

She doesnt need to self isolate as nhs11 says themselves

pinkkoala · 11/03/2020 21:24

I would feel like i am wssting nhs 111 time as they are already overstretched at the moment. Its more my mum that is telling me not to be complacent and check her and for me not to go to work.
My dd is saying now about getting checked after speaking to my mum and looking on google and with the extra precautions at her school.

You are being ridiculous. The advice is to call 111 in your circumstances. You can check the nhs website for confirmation.

PurpleDaisies · 11/03/2020 21:28

www.nhs.uk/conditions/coronavirus-covid-19/

PurpleDaisies · 11/03/2020 21:31

Just spotted it isn’t a confirmed case.

Use the online tool to find out what to do next.

SubjectMatterExpert · 11/03/2020 21:34

Being a hca, won’t prevent you or your family from getting covid -19, so I’m not sure why that is your reason for not worrying

HarrySnotter · 11/03/2020 22:29

Its more my mum that is telling me not to be complacent.

She's right. People being complacent is the reason these things are passed on so easily. Phone 111.

P1nkHeartLovesCake · 11/03/2020 22:33

How can a HCA not know what to do?? You are a health care professional, you shouldn’t need mumsnet for this.

You follow a NHS advice which is to call 111 and go from there
