To buffet or not to buffet?

To buffet or not to buffet, that is the question.
Hosting a small party soon and had intended on doing a finger buffet. In light of the threat of Coronavirus I’m starting to think a couple of vats of chilli may be a better option. Less elements to be exposed to coughs & sneezes & germs, eaten with a fork, dished up with a ladle.
To be honest I worry about hygiene at buffets at the best of times and now it’s even more of a worry. Opinions appreciated.

If you're genuinely worried that someone you know may have coronavirus then I would cancel altogether.

I think if you worry about germs then you should postpone the party completely. It will stress you out whatever.
What if someone with a cold uses the spoon to dish up chilli - would you run in after them with an antibac wipe before the next person touches it? What about your loo - the door handle, taps, chain etc
What about people leaning in to talk to each other? it's just a massive germ fest! So either go ahead and don't stress. Or postpone.

I'm supposed to be going to a bring a plate buffet on Friday and am already thinking ewwww I don't want to.

Professional caterers such as hotels and restaurants are being told not to offer buffets, so you are being sensible. If you do have a buffet you’d need to insist that all your guests do a thorough 20 second hand wash with soap and water before approaching the food.

Isn't coronavirus a respiratory disease? ie you can't catch it from ingesting the virus.

Buffet food has been banned in hospitality, businesses in Scotland just this week, to help contain the spread of corona virus.

You can do what you like in your own home of course. Personally it depends on who you are inviting and where you live, have the travelled or likely to have come into contact with people who have travelled recently.
