Coping with nausea

Changing SSRIs - recognised side effect of withdrawal off the first one is nausea/vomiting .

Was sick quite badly on Friday night/Saturday morning, then diarrhoea all day Saturday/night . Took anti sickness tablets on both Friday and Saturday night but told I can’t have any more of them, seemingly you can only take for 2 nights maximum (buccastem) .

Managed to eat a fairly normal diet yesterday, although not hungry at all - then woke up this morning feeling again very nauseous again . I’ve had two slices of toast but can’t bear the thought of anything else . Taste has gone off a bit and no appetite at all.

GP is phoning back later to sort out different anti sickness meds but just wondering if there’s anything else I could do in the meantime!

You poor thing.
Been there, and it's miserable.

(Even reading the full spelling of 'the n-symptom word' used to trigger mine, so I'll spare you that, just in case!)

Good that you're keeping GP updated: hopefully they're supportive anyway, but don't let any medics ever minimise how bad that particular symptom can be.
Just because 99 other patients have suffered it relatively mildly doesn't mean you are not the one unlucky sod who's far more badly affected.

Have you been on it long?

IME, lengthy time taking it usually means slower tapering than the standard time frame can definitely ease symptoms.

Sometimes the schedule & dose can be adjusted more: might mean you have to stick out the tedious process dragging on longer, delaying weaning on to your new SSRI, but it'd be worth it.

Quick mention: dehydration made mine worse.
If even small sips of water gets too much, I found sucking ice cubes (maybe with a few drops of fruit juice for energy?) helpful.

May not feel like it, currently, but you are doing well.
Good luck with the next med.

Oh, also, if you have an electric fan handy, cool air blowing on my face really helped.
(Even if you're not feeling feverish).

The sensation just shifted my focus.
